Maybe time to stop celebrating with fireworks? If we can't stop war, at least stop using explosives for entertainment...
Fireworks are great. Lots going off in my area last night and I'm sure more tonight.

Thank God and my parents I was born and raised in this country.
I am thankful to have the privilege of being born here in Canada. In one of the greatest cities in Canada at that too.

I've travelled a fair bit and semi-lived in a few countries. I have an EU passport and I can live wherever I want.
Canada is, overall, the best country in what matters to me. I've had the great fortune to live in a period of history to see it evolve from intolerance of visible minorities and gays to acceptance of both. I was around when hosts would make sure you had "one for the road" when already leaving a family birthday party or bbq to now seeing us evolve to make drunk driving completely socially abhorrent.
And continuing to be able to enjoy a relatively legal p4p environment that continues to try to protect the vulnerable and exploited without interfering with the world's oldest profession.
And where a bad kidney infection or minor heart attack won't bankrupt your family.
