He waited a YEAR. Mean Jean must have spent a long time kissing up to the missus, so she would pack him a extra pair of undies. That wasn't any sort of crisis. Just another photo opp.
OK? Busha waited two years. I was just pointing out that Harper wasn't the first Candian PM to visit Afghanistan. In any case Chretien's visit wasn't a cake walk the battles with the Taliban were still going on near by.

Harper's thing with the plane was just a photo op too. Why did he leave his offical photographer on board? That would have been an extra seat for someone.

some slack

PM Harper has shown more class in a few months than his neo-con buddy shrub has in 6 years. Going to Lebanon was a symbolic gesture, sure. But it was a definitely a brave one and, I believe, the right one, or at least a good one. The contrast to Bush's heartlessness and cowardice--with respect to Iraq, to Afghanistan, to Katrina, to everything--couldn't be more stark. Whatever else he is--and he may be the man to end Canadian soveriegnty--Harper is a decent human being. And that's the sharpest contrast of all to the despicable shrubble-yoo.

Just a political drama/soap opera to divert the attention of people & gain some political mileage.
If his Govt. is so concern for their citizens, they should reduce taking some additional taxes on Fuel/Gas which has hit everyone, & has upset their budgets, whereas the income's have not increased at all, & at the same time 2.5% inflation rate now is another burden on its heavily taxed citizen's, how to survive in this country, so many of our friends/acquaintances are trying to get jobs abroad to make their life bit easier for themselves & their families, as job market also over here is very Frisky/Risky with no guarantee that you have your job the next hour or you shall be fired or laid-off due to slump.

First of all, Harper was not in "his" plane, he was in "our" plane and he diverted it to Cyprus. It wasn't like he woke up in Ottawa and called the Chief of Defence and said "fire up the Airbus we're going in". Perhaps it was a PR event but it also shut up the people that were saying Canada was not doing anything for them. There are probably more "Canadians" in Lebonan than other foreign countries but we are also one of the farthest away. Personally I don't like the fact that these so-called Canadians are looking to get out of Dodge when it was their choice to live there after getting their Canadian citizenship. Maybe it's time to change the rules that you cannot hold dual-citizenship with a Canadian citizenship.

Can anyone tell this twit to stop playing semantics - of course it's OURS but the friken day I can order up the Airbus and fly to Dublin is the same day I stop calling it HIS.

Second off - what's wrong with Conservatives, Citizenship does not come in ranks which have different rights and privileges. If you are a Citizen you enjoy the same rights as other Citizens. Get over it you cheap SOB.

Take off those rose glasses BB, there always has been and always will be different classes of citizens. Quebec gets special treatment, the "noble red man" gets everything for free, and Ontario gets to pay for it.

Those so called citizens that are so in name only and spend all their time in Lebanon should get no help from us. They are as Canadian as Bin Laden, of course under a truedeau inspired immigration system bin Laden may very well be a Canadian citizen so that would make me feel silly wouldn't it.

You never know. He could have been "grandfathered" in, or given an honourary citizenship for his contribution to the world.:D
