I wonder if Haseks motivation to return to the NHL next year is an honest one or not. Is he coming back to fight for the Cup, or run from going to jail......

regardless the wings should trade Hasek instead of Joseph. Hasek hasn't played in a year and if he comes back it'll most likely be another 1 yr thing and then the Wings will have to do the same thing over again in finding another goalie.

Here and there
Yes, but the current bargaining agreement ends after next season, and a (long) lockout is a virtual guarantee. Going for broke next year is a pretty smart game plan, because 2004-05 might not exist...

Hasek while playing forward attacked another player and injured him seriously.

allegedly...it's not uncommon for big name stars to get accused of things that don't seem to fit their character...look at Kobe Bryant. He doesn't seem the type to assault anyone - a rare player with a lot of class.

Don't judge Hasek without knowing the details. For all we know, the other player attacked him cause of who he was...Americans aren't the only ones who look for a reason to sue someone with lots of money.

You're delusional, my friend...Colorado - maybe...not if we can help it, and you can't tell me the Wings aren't looking good. But you and your fantasies about Ottawa...they blew it, Goob. They always do.

DenWa, buddy....with all due respect, pull your head out of your ass, tie a rubber band around your head and snap the fuck out of it.

Did you pay attention to the playoffs this year? Did you notice who advanced and who got knocked out in the *cough* first round? Four straight?

Tell me where, exactly, Ottawa blew it. Oh, yeah, Redden let Friessen go un-challenged to the net in the 7th game of the conference final. Wow! CHOKE! WHAT A SHITTY TEAM!

Sarcasm aside, Ottawa had to endure bankruptcy protection, missed payroll, the spectre of moving towns, being one of the lowest paid teams and STILL almost made the Cup Final.

Please, don't tell me getting Hasek back will automatically insure another Cup victory. He's a great goalie, but he's not the whole farking team.

And meanwhile, all the Detroit players are another year older to boot. Doesn't mean so much when your 27, but when your 37...

Our silly smog-infested friend seems to have confused Toronto with Ottawa...

Goob Goob Goob...

I don't care if they went to Game 7...they weren't in the finals, they were the 1st place team, and they lost...they blew it.

The last time the Wings got beat in the first round, we won the Cup the following year. The Wings played great all last season, and got stomped, like everyone else in the west, by the Ducks. Ottawa did not have to play the Ducks (well, they should've, but that's what happens when you don't make it to the finals BECAUSE YOU BLEW IT)...so I wouldn't put much into us being eliminated.

No, Hasek is not the whole team. But we've got Hasek, Hatcher, I'm sure we'll be snagging a top-notch forward to replace Federov. As for the year older thing, please...Brett Hull is one of the oldest guys on the team and he was fucking phenomenal last season...he's only six months older. We've got some really good young guys on the team, and Schneider was awesome last season. Fischer is healthy, McCarty's still there - shit, the whole team's still there. We had the best last half of the season in team history, and then the Ducks spoiled our day..big deal...it happens... 3 out of the last 7 shows that we can obviously rebound from elimination...it's happened before.

No Hasek won't ensure a victory. But our old guys who were 37 are now 37-and-a-half...I hardly think age will be an overall factor. All in all, the Wings are looking very very good.

By the end of the season, they'll be 38.

I agree, the Wings look better this year than last. But if you say that they're better than Ottawa, I would seriously beg to differ.

*cough*... 3 Stanley Cups in 7 years...*cough* no reputation for choking...

I love arguing Hockey with you, man...but you're wrong. I would put my money on Detroit over Ottawa any day. Why? Because Detroit has proved they can get the job done, and Ottawa hasn't proved shit. And all the front office problems Ottawa overcame last year makes for great sports writing, but inevitably what's going on in the office will effect what's happening on the ice. Detroit has money to spend. Either way, it'll make for an entertaining season.
