Have The Sabres Lost Their Mojo?

The Sabres have lost six games straight. Their opponents for the remaining 11 games are not exactly easy teams to beat. It is not a good sign heading into Stanley Cup playoffs with a long losing streak. The good doc is not sure that they can peak at the right time to go far and deep into playoffs. Unless if they improve substantially, they probably will be sent packing at the first round of playoffs.

still a young team and have alot to learn... who knows? tampa bay slumped in march of 2003 and later went on to win the stanley cup.

in some ways doing the same as carolina, vancouver, new jersey, and calgary ... now, that it's getting competitive, some teams will struggle to find their game.

Everyone has slumps, and besides they are missing 2 guys that will help them connelly and Hect.

I'm sure they will get back on track

No doubt it is difficult to expect any team to play good every game. It is also apparent that missing two offensive players in Connelly and Hecht hurt the team's scoring chances. The good doc just think that the team has not been playing with the kind of purpose and intensity that a good playoff team possesses. Hopefully they will find the necessary cure in time for their woes and be prepared for playoffs.

It`s a slump, but not a big deal. They know they`re going to finish either 4th or 5th so the results from here to the season`s end don`t matter much. They should be using this time to try out some different combinations and strategies. Maybe cut down the icetime on the older guys like Teppo so they`re rested for the playoffs. Maybe give some more starts to Biron so he won`t be ice cold if they need him in the playoffs.

As it stands they`ll be starting the playoffs against either Philly or the Rangers. The Rangers make me nervous, but the Flyers are very beatable.

Also Lindy Ruff`s daughter has had some serious medical problems lately, so he`s likely not focused on hockey right now.

yes, this would have an effect. kinda like (sorda) what happened in Phoenix this year with the death of Gretz' mother (rip) and the Tocchet scandal, etc.. saw the Coyotes drop from 8th down to 12th...

Well the Sabres finally ended their six game losing streak by beating the Bruins 4 to 3. It was not a pretty win but nonetheless a win, a step in the right direction. I agree the Sabres should not be concerned about chasing after conference standing but should concentrate on the playoff run. If they can peak at the right time, both Rangers and Flyers are very beatable.

They should give Biron enough conditioning and game time just in case Miller is injured or cannot play to par. It will be tough for Lindy Ruff to black out his daughter's health problems. I believe Lindy will bite the bullet, take it like a man, and try hard to get his team on track for playoffs.

Here is the remaining schedule for the Sabres:

Mar 30 @New Jersey 7:30 PM
Apr 01 @Toronto 7:00 PM
Apr 03 @Toronto 7:30 PM
Apr 05 Ottawa 7:00 PM
Apr 07 Philadelphia 8:00 PM
Apr 08 @Ottawa 7:30 PM
Apr 12 Montreal 7:00 PM
Apr 15 @Montreal 7:00 PM
Apr 16 Toronto 5:00 PM
Apr 18 @Carolina 7:00 PM

Teams like New Jersey, Montreal, and Toronto are fighting to gain the final few playoff spots. Desperate teams are tough to beat. The Sabres certainly does not look like they have an easy schedule for the remainder of the season. They will certainly their Mojo to maintain a good attitude going into playoffs.

Look who has the Mojo tonight!!! It is the Leafs!!! The Sabres not only lost the game but in my view embarassed themselves by playing so badly. If this does not wake the Sabres up, they might as well do not go to playoffs!!! Yikes!!!

considering how sloppy the leafs played and with all of their giveaways, Buffalo really, really did look bad...

are the leafs really still fighting for the final playoff spot? I don't think they belong up with New Jersey and Montreal... too late for that... Montreal is 9 points ahead of T.O. with 1 less game remaining but, a 10-game trend comparable to the Leafs... so it still looks the same it did for the leafs 3 weeks ago when the leafs began their slide from 8th to 12th, now 11th...it looks like their is no hope in hell for the leafs unless Montreal forfeits a few games...lol

A pragmatist will realistically tell you the Leafs' chance of going to playoffs is really really slim. But they do have a chance especially if they keep beating teams from now on and if New Jersey, Montreal, and Atlanta keep losing. Seeing how the Sabres performed tonight, one has to wonder, in the world of possibilities, anything is possible. :)

It`s still a long shot for Toronto to make the playoffs, but it would be hilarious if they sneaked into 8th and beat the Ottawa in the 1st round again.

If they keep losing? Montreal has won 6 straight, Jersey 3 straight and Atlanta has won 6 of their last 10. These teams are playing up to the challenge, not folding under pressure as SD seems to be implying.

My point is, as long as Toronto is mathematically alive in the playoff hunt, the Leafs should fight tooth and nail until there is nothing left in them. That is what I called playing with the heart of a champion. As I said, the chance for Toronto to slip in playoff is really really slim, but hey you never know, especially if the Hockey God helps out. That being said, the way they embarassed the Sabres may not do the Leafs a favor. They may actually wake up the slumping Sabres. If Buffalo regains its scoring touch, it will be a formidable opponent for any hockey team to beat. Look for the Sabres to rebound and give the Leafs a hard time come Monday.

No kiddin, Montreal is driving me nuts. Toronto is doing great without Allison/Lindros/Belfour, but so is everyone else doing great.
Would/should/could means nothing if TB, Montreal, and Atlanta will not slide.
Bad time for all three of those clubs to get red hot.
These teams cannot be any hotter than Kathleen. Lets see whether Toronto can perform magic like Kathleen. :p

Too Bad One Team Has To Lose!!!

It was an exciting, spirited hockey game tonight between the Sabres and Leafs. Both teams came to play this time with superb goaltending on both ends. Sabres barely won 3 to 2 via Shootout. Some Toronto fans probably wish Miller was the goalie instead of Biron. Toronto tried hard to win but gaining one point out of the possible two certainly is not good enough. Too bad one team has to lose.
