in an elevator...going up to ??
having changed providers...i have a hd receiver...but the installation has the component cables as the hook up the blue red green...Is there a compromise in quality using these cables instead of a hdmi cable?

i see a difference in the hd channels and the standard...just wondering if changing the cable hook up will make the difference more pronounced...

Assuming you have a receiver that processes the HD Audio (namely TrueHD and DTS Master), you need to use HDMI. Using component video (and matching it with the also assumed toslink audio cable) will not give you the HD Audio, it maxes out at Dolby Digital.

If your receiver does not process the HD Audio, component + toslink is fine as you'd have to use a toslink cable anyways as the receiver will likely not process any audio.

HDMI would always be the recommended cable for ease of cable of management and maximum audio/video processing.
