I asked a professional techie to look into my computer. But his rates are pretty hefty. So i asked a co-worker computer student to help me and he also had rates to charge. So...
Can someone help me? I've decided to take it upon myself alone to try to work out the misfunctionings of my computer.
Misfunction #1: The monitor no longer goes on. The computer lights up, and the sound of the fan can be heard running and the computer sounds like its loading up, when the power button is pressed, but the monitor stays as dark as my girlfriend's bedroom. A friend suggested it might be something with the video card. Could it have shorted out? What in the heck could've happened to my video card?! Considering I never fiddle with it and it has been settled in my computer's internals the whole time? A short circuit? a power surge? Is it blown? My co-worker techie friend said I might have to pull it out of the socket and then re-insert it - to get it reinstalled into the computer's hard-drive hardware recognition...help?
Misfunction #2: I've consulted and called a dozen computer-tech support guys by phone on this. The wireless PCI card no longer picks up a signal from the wireless router. It used to pick up a signal, but then it suddenly stopped detecting and recognizing a signal present from the wireless router downstairs. Its looking alot more and more like my computer might've suffered a power surge that knocked out its system's components. Its behaving awfully strange and things are starting to not function at all. Like the video card and the wireless PCI card.
It should also be noted that I did reformat the harddrive recently, cause of severely slow restart and reload up time, due to perhaps most likely a virus i picked up on those mass-pop up chain porn site promotion and advertisement websites that offer endless series of free samples...could only be a memory-hogging virus, after i cleaned out all the spyware and temp files.
Can someone tell me what i could do?
I am going to try taking out the video card from the slot and reinserting it, to see if it makes any changes....
Then, I might buy a network PCI card to install a data cable to replace the wireless PCI card and hopefully the internet will then, come through.
But, I did have the wireless PCI card tested and checked by its manufacturer, when i brought it in to be repaired, but they said it checked out okay and functional....what gives?....HELP!!!
