hey all, im here seeking some advice. I've had this job for only 2 1/2 weeks and i have realized its not for me. i want to quit, but i dont know exactly how to do it. ive quit previous jobs before, but that was after some time, never after 2 1/2 weeks of working, i mean i havent even fully completed my training yet.

im just really unhappy with my position, the work that needs to be done, and mostly the staff that is there (i dont really like them at all).

any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

If you used a placement agency go back to them and explain your concerns and they might be able to work as a third party on your behalf.

If u are so un-happy, then u can quit with a smile!
Dont stress yourself too much, life is too short to repent for such lousy jobs which you do not enjoy. Dont ever take the stress on you for this good for nothing job, i think u still being on probation, u are not at all obliged to give any reason for your quitting, just say u are resigning from your present assignment- Just my humble 2-cent opinion for your well-being, not to get stressed any further, & lord willing u shall get another soon, just try hard to find one:) Goodluck.

try this:

"ahem, please accept this as my letter of resignation. Its not you, its me. I had higher expectations for this job and I realize that after 2 and half weeks that those expectations will never be met. Thank you for your patience and the office supplies"

also i was reading some things in the labor code and it says that unless i was working there for atleast 3 months i dont need to give 2 weeks notice, is that correct? i can simply just go there and quit my job to never return (unless its to get my pay cheque, or do they mail it to you?)

I think that if you have only been there for such a short time, and you know that there is no chance of improvement, then sit down with your manager or boss and let them know that. Let them know you will be leaving this early so that you will not waste their time any further, so that they can train someone else. That way you leave on good terms. When you are this early in a position, not only do you not need to give them 2 weeks notice, but it lessens the stigma of having quit a job. I think a future employer would understand leaving this early as opposed to going through training and wasting time only to quit a few months in. More respectable, in my opinion.

Good luck!

way out in left field
As the others have stated: you don't need to give them notice with the amount of time you've been there. Typical "probation" is 3 months and you or the employer can terminate your employment at any time without notice.

If I were you I'd quit when it is most financially viable. Meaning if you get paid bi-weekly and they hold over 4 days (pay period ending on friday, get paid the following thursday) I'd quit at the end of your normal pay period.

They will probably mail your cheque to you but I'd tell them you will pick it up on your normal payday. I've had companies drag their asses making out the last paycheque with things like "oh we mailed it out yesterday", "oh it will be ready for you tomorrow for you to pickup" and then you go there and it isn't. Then you go there again and they "mailed it this morning".....

Anyhow, best advice is to be respectful: it isn't a good thing to burn ANY bridges after you've crossed them. You never know when you may have to cross that river again. ALWAYS try to leave any position on good terms.

The nice way: Tell your boss something else has come up and you have to quit. Turnover in shitty jobs is high. He won't be heartbroken. They won't hate you.

The not so nice way: Stop showing up. See how long they keep paying you. Don't ever expect to work with any of those people again.

Just go today before your next shift and tell them you decided you don't want to work there. I am sure it happens all the time and it gives them time to schedule someone else.

Two weeks notice????
Tell them in about two weeks they will have noticed you have not been in to work.
You owe them nothing. If your employer had $ troubles don't think for a second they would hesitate to lay you off.

You owe your self the obligation to protect your reputation and good name.
Therefore explain to them it is not a good fit and while you would prefer to terminate your arrangement immediately, you will provide two weeks notice if essential to your employer. Put it in writing with a date
I would also request you get paid for the full two weeks if they have a change of mind and terminate your employment prior to the end of the two weeks. ( Like at the end of three days once they have found a replacement) or wait until you show up one day and then send you home without the benefit of getting your hours in. It cost you $ to get there didn't it & you could have made other plans.
Take the high road , but protect yourself $ wise

and you are worried about leaving... go get yourself a golf club and some balls... tee off and try to get a hole in one into the plasma t.v on the other side of the store... that will get you out there fast... or you could try to see how much you could eat at the food counter... like in animal house...clasic john B. ... or you could go to the line up and switch the packages in customers carts..try not to let them see you.... ..:D

There is 3 ways to quit. that i have experienced myself in working in place where i need to quit on the spot or after a few weeeks of working

1 - talk to your supervisor and give them your 2 weeks notice.
2 - talk to your supervisor and tell you need to quit now or at the end of the day
3 - just not show up at all. and wait til they mail you out your check

if you any id passes or any of your belongs just bring them with you. that way you do not have to that mess clean up if you need to pick up your last check.

Most work places no matter how you quit send out your last check 7 days after you have quit.
