Hello People!
I am very non tech savvy, and am finally getting around to purchasing an LCD tv. I just need some help figuring out the input situation. I have an older, non HDMI receiver, and cannot afford to replace everything at once. All I'm inputting is my Rogers digital box (component cables), Wii (component cables) and a DVD player. My current DVD uses S-video and optical cable (I think) for sound. Most new tv's don't seem to take S-video. What I"m wondering is, if I use an HDMI cable for DVD-tv hookup, can I still use the optical cable to the old receiver for sound? This may sound dumb, but I really don't know. Thanks for your help.!
