Everyone has herpes and regular STD screening does not test for it. Usually doctors will refuse to test you for herpes even if you ask because everyone has either HSV1 or HSV 2. They will only test if you have symptoms, in which case they do a swab.

This was true for me.

I find that unless you have a high chance of coming in contact with HIV they wouldn't care and may not even test for certain infections.

Everything is treatable is the mentality.

Since I keep seeing random statements. There is a test for HSV, it is a HSV carrier test. The specific name is HSV IgG (Herpres Simplex Virus Immunoglobulin G). This test can detect if you are infected with HSV by testing for antibodies, regardless if you have an outbreak now, or ever. But because we have our glorious soviet healthcare system, doctors won't perform the test unless you're gay, have HIV or pregnant, cause in the end HSV is harmless. But if you're in a place with private-public healthcare, you can pay for the test.

Yup. And that's why I've straight up lied to doctors and told them I'm bisexual, just so they'll take my concerns seriously.

I can’t imagine my doctor saying no to me for any type of STD testing. I just ask and he says ok!

I guess clinics with limited funds, etc. I am one of the fortunate Canadians that has a great family doctor and am a patient of an amazing clinic. If my doc can’t see me, one of the others can and they are all awesome.

Does your doctor know you're a sex worker? Cuz that might be why.
