All Trek asked was if he/she should downsize to a smaller apartment and the majority of you criticized them for not being educated or not having a good job. Who the fuck cares if trek works at Micky D's. What he/she does for a living had nothing to do with the question they asked.
Now to answer your question Trek. I find $850 to be reasonable for a one bedroom apartment. I have a friend who was paying $650 to rent a room in a house (they had free run of the rest of the house) I think that if you can afford to stay in the Apartment then you should. However, if you plan to put the extra money you save away for a big purchase (ie. condo, house) by moving into a bachelor apartment then IMHO that would be the better route.
It all comes down to you, and what your needs are. I havn't really had to struggle myself to make ends meet, but i do have friends who work hard and have very little to show for it after expense are paid.
