whatever you do, dont go to Circa. I got talked into going there tonight and it was half empty and lame. Average age was seemed to be 22. Too young if you ask me. Nice venue though.

I heard Circa had cotton candy vendors and barcounters that light up at the touch of someone's hand and funny seats and merry-go-rounds...

maybe everyone just got scared of the sudden midnight TTC strike and all ran home.

Here, there, everywhere
If you looking for a place that has a mature crowd 25+.. try Devil's Martini

473 Adelaide St W
2 levels, Top 40 mostly Hip Hop, R & B, Dance, Trance 6 bars

Me and my girl friends go often. It does get quite busy though. Of the times I've been I have always seen 1 or 2 Stagettes happening there. Crowd is friendly not the stuck up 'club' crowd.

Although, I suggest not arriving too late. A friend and her b/f showed up after we were in and her b/f had to slip the bouncer 60.00 just to get past the crowd.

Reading these posts has me depressed. I loathe the whole club district scene. I remember sneaky dees used to have a hip hop night that was good but that was at least 5 years ago. Sure it was a hole in the wall but the music was good (old school/for hip hop heads) and people danced.

Is tribe of any use or relevance these days I used to peruse that website and it's discussion board for clubs (but I was focusing on drum n bass at the time but they did have a hip hop section).

As for circa doesn't it run some all ages events? For me that's a sign of a place that I want to avoid at all costs.

System Sound Bar used to be all right becasue people went to dance but it's no longer there.

Is there anywhere left where you'll find actual b-girls/b-boys rather than club people?

Just being a dumbass, but....why would you avoid a club that runs all ages events at all costs?

Or pervy guys who go there to scope out waaaay too young girls. Besides nothing ruins a night faster than running into an underager who knows you as a "responsible" person.

I dunno I guess I'm a bit of a club snob. I find places that have all ages tend to have music that I don't like. I also don't like places with dress codes because it means the people there are more into how they look than the music.

I tended to gravitate towards places like 99 sudbury, una mas, roxy blu.... smaller places where the people danced. The sad part is that I don't think there's much going on at the places I used to frequent.

All age venues are great for music and entertainment. Not so much for Friday night partying.

Roxy Blu was cool. I saw Mark Farina there a few years ago.

i generally dont go out either, unless its to a friends party/something a little more underground.

you are absolutely right, i feel like toronto's party scene is lacking. i also feel like i have been spoiled by some great party scenes in my day. in calgary..in vancouver...even when i was in high school, there was an amazing underground house thing happening in toronto..big warehouse parties, or the rave scene that was alive then.

do people remember the Beat Junkie, or the "South African center", which was an after hours out of an alley in Kensington market. rappers like Choclair would battle there, 10 years before they would have any commercial success. now those were places to hear great music, and dance with people who were really into it.

i am getting some great suggestions in pm's though. thanks.

any word on Maro?

Ok. time for Odd Questions.

Give me your best answers.

If you're in a mood to go out and your buddy cancels because he has exams, work early in the morning, feeling sick, not in the mood, just broke up with his girlfriend, etc etc, yet....

yet, you're still in very much of a mood to go out. All revved up and no place to go.

Do you go by yourself at any of these places, circa, all ages clubs or what??

I know it happened to everybody, one time or another.
