With an app like NextPlus you can log out of your account when not in use.

Login to the app. Use it. Make appointment. Logout.
Login. Call/text you are in parking area. Wait for reply. Logout.

As long as you are not logged in no one can tell what you use it for. If anyone asks about app, say old app you use to use or it was an app that was on the phone.

The most important part. Make up a userid and password no one will guess.

Beats having to worry about a 2nd phone. Even if you lose this phone, no one can get into your app without your userid and password as long as you logged out.

Also airtime (calls onky since txting is free) are :
$2 for 100 mins.
$5 for 250 mins.
There are other pricing.

I'd suggest this. It grants you a free # to use which will work over your normal phone's carrier. You can use it for calling or text. and you can dispose of it whenever.
www.sideline.com/

It expires after 30 days of disuse though. So, you'd have to use it at least once within every 30 days to keep it active. But otherwise, it's free.

Question.

With the 7/11 burner phone, even if I buy the voucher - do I not have to use a website or call in and provide personal information before they will activate the device? I've looked at many pay as you go options, and while I can pay in cash there is always a requirement to provide my name, address, etc. upon activation, even if using a prepaid card or voucher to fund.

I might be anonymous to 7/11, but not to the company that activates the phone - and who could possibly send me something in the mail outside of my control that would arrive at home.

I have a 7/11 burner I acquired in 2014. I paid cash for the phone and received an activation code and number to call on a till receipt. Just had to activate the phone over a land line with the code provided. It's completely anonymous. For minutes top up just pay cash and key in the code on the till receipt to rollover what's on your account for another 12 months.

that's what I did, too. just have to remember to top up within 12 months or lose it. the only issue is having another phone around to possibly explain if....

I'll have to keep an eye out at 7/11 for these - the last 3 pay as you go options I looked at all required customer set up with the carrier - and I'm not interested in that. I questioned each carrier as to why, and was cited some government know your customer regulation (but couldn't verify if it's true or not).
