I was in Calgary during the last flood a few years ago. Nothing like this but was still evacuated from downtown for 10 days. Best thing about these disasters are the stories of people helping people. When we volunteered in Calgary we were tuned away because they had too many people already.

It's scary that they're projecting Houston to receive just as much rain over the next few days as they already have, if not more
I dont see how they're gonna eat and drink. There's a good chance most of the wellwater and tapwater is contaminated, and unless you have a week's worth of food on hand you're not eating.

Mind you, maybe its a good time to go on a crash diet

I do wonder how long it'll be before our government starts asking for donations, then offering our taxpayer money to match those donations...an outright stupid practice. Let people donate who want to donate.

Man this sucks. There is or was an SC where the gents sit in a chair and put their arms through the holsters on the arm rests. Kind of weird but effective in preventing unwanted touching of the dancers.

I wonder if something like this could ever happen to Toronto. Not a hurricane, but a massive rainfall that leads to flash-flooding the whole city

Those cunts will try to get away with not paying out
Depends on whether the insured has flood insurance. Insuraance likely will cover any wind damage and any water entering from above, but groundwater? Probably out of luck unless they have FI.

They were saying Houston is mostly asphalt and cement, so there's nowhere for the water to recede to quickly

On a serious note, I hope there are no casualties, as they say, you can always rebuild, but you can never take back a life.

edit: 2 confirmed dead so far from hurricane Harvey.

Fortunately for us Toronto sprawls on a fair grade making excess water just dump in the lake. Local flooding and lots and lots of wet basements would be the result, but that's just crappy construction methods and plugged drains- like 3 or 4 years ago when we had floating cars on the Gardiner.
