Oh, I'm sorry, did you miss the part where you
WELCHED ON YOUR BET WITH ME?

Hmm? Or is it that you don't think you lost the bet?
Really.
I'm interested.

Lemme know, salsawelch.
:D

(And, "the_big_e", why the fuck should I let it go? If you made a bet with someone and lost, would you pay up? Let us all know. That way we'll be forewarned if anyone else asks you to back up your talk in here. Talk is cheap, pally.)

at last I understand.....

Why Gibbons has always been kissing J.P.'s ass and why J.P. has him as a Manager

this is from the jays website

Ricciardi originally wanted to finalize Gibbons' extension at the end of last season. Toronto's GM said the club held off on the negotiations at that time where his late father was fighting a losing battle with cancer.

"He had a lot of things going on with his dad," said Ricciardi, who was a teammate of Gibbons' in the Minors.

In July, former Jays designated hitter Hillenbrand and Gibbons were involved in a closed-door altercation in Toronto's clubhouse. During a players-only meeting, Gibbons entered the clubhouse and confronted Hillenbrand, who was then traded to the Giants a few days later.

Last August in Toronto, Gibbons and Lilly entered into a heated exchange on the mound that escalated into a shoving match in the tunnel behind the home dugout at the Rogers Centre.

...why this post of all very old news would suddenly lead someone to finally understand anything.

It is my understanding that the basic hierarchy in MLB is set up such that the manager is hired and fired by the GM. Why should the Jays be any different?

I was not aware that J.P and GIbbons have played in the minors together for one

and with regards to Shea......Gibbons interrupted a PLAYERS ONLY meeting got into Shea's face and then a month later had an incident with Lilly where rumours are he got punched in the face for his troubles...

the way I see it he should have been fired looooong ago but I know understand why it has not happen yet

If Gibbons was such a lousy manager do you think Ricciardi would keep him around? Ricciardi needs good results just as much as anyone else.

Hillebrand is a flake and Gibbons was not going to allow him to poison the clubhouse atmosphere. Lilly and Frank Thomas have the same agent. If Gibbons was such a dick, Thomas and his agent would not have agreed to play for him. Lilly was close to re-signing.

As to JP and Gibbons playing together, well that is the way the whole world works. Connections you make early on in life make way for opportunities later on. It's not what you know, it's who you know. Your connection will get your foot in the door, but after that you have to perform, just like anyone else.

This is a results oriented industry. Sentimentality does not come into play when decisions regarding the team are involved.

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
Yeah...and Shea's moved onto another team again(San Fran's given up already) . So I guess he's the cancer, he can't seem to stay with teams for long.

There's nothing wrong with Gibbons.

when was the last time you saw Joe Torre, Felipe Alou or for that matter Cito Gaston doing that kind of shit???

is called a PLAYERS ONLY meeting for a reason and can you guess what that reason is?

after the incident with Lilly in the mound, Gibbons should have gone back to the bench and let Lilly cool off at the showers, instead he went after him and all hell broke loose in the tunnel

as for Frank signing with the Jays I will give you a hint (money)

I have said my piece and that is my opinion of the man, is he the best man for the job? I certainly think not.....is there anybody else out there? unfortunately not........(although I do like Ernie as a Manager and I think he has more experience in that position)

nuff said!!!!

where may I ask did you come up with that "statement" ???? Lilly was never going to re-sign with the Jays they made him the same offer as the Cubs and he turned them down......plain and simple
He had the Jays offer for a while and only told them no a day before signing with Chicago. If he had no intentions of playing for them he wouldn't have even bothered listening to their offer. He didn't need them as a negotiating ploy as several other teams were already bidding on his services.

Maybe "close to signing" is a relative term but he did "consider" the Jays offer, which he wouldn't have done if he hated Gibbons so much.

well here we go again......

the 2007 season is just around the corner and there are some major changes

The Cat is gone (I am a big fan of him and I am sorry to see him go but I understand the reason of this move and hopefully R. Johnson can duplicate what he did last year)

Royce Clayton was signed (no comments here but please feel free to make any)

fan favorite Frank "Big Hurt" Thomas has been signed as a full time DH a smart move IF he remains healthy although we gave him quite a pay raise compared to what he make last year.......and in case he goes down who do we have to take over the DH position?

A.J. Burnett.......will he be healthy this season?

Greg Zaun: no Bengie Molina this time around to rain on his parade, is age going to be a factor here?

Alex Rios: is he still being used as trade bait? will he be here for years to come? HECK! will he finish this season as a Jay?

I am excited about this season. Like all teams injuries will play a big part in how far they can go.
And pitching will be a main concern. Hope the guys coming back from injury can perform and everyone else must stay injury free.

Wherever I shouldn't be
The Jays still have a lot of question marks, mainly the rotation.
Halladay and Burnett have health questions, always. They're both injury prone
Chacin is an enigma, very good or very bad, but no consistency
The rest? Who knows? There's some good arms there, but can they come through?
Catching - I like Zaun, but behind him?
Left Field - Can Johnson play every day?
Middle infield - These guys sure as hell aren't Jeter and Cano, are they?
I think Rios will have a big year, and don't think he's going anywhere, at least not yet.
Great nucleus, with Overbay, Glaus, Wells and Thomas in the middle of the lineup, they'll score runs, but can they prevent them?

rotation IS the biggest question for sure, i am not sure I would consider Doc injury prone but he seems to be looking good in pre-season despite rumours
like you said there are some good arms here and is just a question of wait and see....

I also like Zaun but I am not sure he is an every day catcher anymore (after all that is probably the hardest position of them all) as for Reed Johnson he plays with a lot of passion and he makes thinks happens he certainly is an everyday player in my book

as for Rios.......even if he is not going anywhere and he gets better, could we afford toi keep him later on? he looks like a good development so far
