...why this post of all very old news would suddenly lead someone to finally understand anything.salsamarc said:Why Gibbons has always been kissing J.P.'s ass and why J.P. has him as a Manager
this is from the jays website
Ricciardi originally wanted to finalize Gibbons' extension at the end of last season. Toronto's GM said the club held off on the negotiations at that time where his late father was fighting a losing battle with cancer.
"He had a lot of things going on with his dad," said Ricciardi, who was a teammate of Gibbons' in the Minors.
In July, former Jays designated hitter Hillenbrand and Gibbons were involved in a closed-door altercation in Toronto's clubhouse. During a players-only meeting, Gibbons entered the clubhouse and confronted Hillenbrand, who was then traded to the Giants a few days later.
Last August in Toronto, Gibbons and Lilly entered into a heated exchange on the mound that escalated into a shoving match in the tunnel behind the home dugout at the Rogers Centre.
If Gibbons was such a lousy manager do you think Ricciardi would keep him around? Ricciardi needs good results just as much as anyone else.salsamarc said:I was not aware that J.P and GIbbons have played in the minors together for one
and with regards to Shea......Gibbons interrupted a PLAYERS ONLY meeting got into Shea's face and then a month later had an incident with Lilly where rumours are he got punched in the face for his troubles...
the way I see it he should have been fired looooong ago but I know understand why it has not happen yet
where may I ask did you come up with that "statement" ???? Lilly was never going to re-sign with the Jays they made him the same offer as the Cubs and he turned them down......plain and simpleshack said:Lilly was close to re-signing.
He had the Jays offer for a while and only told them no a day before signing with Chicago. If he had no intentions of playing for them he wouldn't have even bothered listening to their offer. He didn't need them as a negotiating ploy as several other teams were already bidding on his services.salsamarc said:where may I ask did you come up with that "statement" ???? rotation IS the biggest question for sure, i am not sure I would consider Doc injury prone but he seems to be looking good in pre-season despite rumoursbigdik said:The Jays still have a lot of question marks, mainly the rotation.
Halladay and Burnett have health questions, always. They're both injury prone
Chacin is an enigma, very good or very bad, but no consistency
The rest? Who knows? There's some good arms there, but can they come through?
Catching - I like Zaun, but behind him?
Left Field - Can Johnson play every day?
Middle infield - These guys sure as hell aren't Jeter and Cano, are they?
I think Rios will have a big year, and don't think he's going anywhere, at least not yet.
