How addictive is this hobby for you? Is it getting worse?

I'm not sure if addiction is the word for it but it may be for some.

I got heavily into it for about 3 years due to an unfulfilling marriage. There was a point which coincided with my maximum unhappiness in the marriage where I felt that I was out of control and in fact my hobby was discovered by my spouse due to my out of control behaviour. She promptly left me. Some would say I wanted that to happen and was just to chicken shit to make it happen...maybe so. Beware guys...you can get sloppy when you're having too much fun!

About a year ago I got into a relationship with a great lady who out performs most of the SPs I ever visited and is a really amazing person too.
I don't have a need to hobby at the moment and probably won't return to it but I don know that. I think often of the lovely ladies I visited and had fun with...especially the lovely Cat who has posted in this thread...meow! The hobby gave me some wonderful memories and experiences and I don't regret it but it is possible to quit cold turkey when you find some one worth quitting for.

Looks to have bought my story it was a wrong number or something.. This is the same gf I quit hobbying for six years ago. Pretty unfulfilled relationship intimacy wise so I gave up and started hobbying again.

I'm kinda lucky that I'm somewhat picky, or that I don't care to frequent agency incalls. Plus have mental limits on what I want to spend on an encounter. Mix in the frequent disappointment seeing SPs who perform shoddily.. it's kinda helping the addiction. I'm still trying to find a regular, to see weekly at a whim. But it isn't easy.

Even visiting terb, and bp etc is part of the addiction right.. it's time spent on this when it could be or should be better utilized elsewhere. For myself anyways.

That's what worries with my cell phone. I use it to arrange meetings, inquire about things, etc and I keep it locked at all other times, but if SPs were texting me outside hours where I was available it could be bad.

It can be addictive. But I spend a lot of time on research...and quite honestly, get turned off by the number of undesirable girls ( to me) plying their wares.

I am A once every couple months guy..so manageable. AND I have reduced the desire, by upping the quality.

So I stick to the better looking ones.

ya, I too have issue with texting or calling from my phone. For many providers this seems to be the only way to contact. I understand that they must think of their safety but I am not willing to sacrifice what I have away from this addiction. I PM'ed a provider this week asking if I could meet with her at a specific day/time and I received an emphatic NO. Why is this? is email such a danger?

textplus.com is a free app for most mobile OS's that is un/pw protected and gives you a separate stand alone local number you can use to sms with others. that should solve your need to use your main number on the phone. just remember to log out of the app when youre done using it.

To me this hobby is not addictive. My hobbying is governed be my hormones. I guess depeneding on the testostrone levels I possess in a given week it can be no SPs to 4 SPs lol. Its just as simple as that for me

I tend to agree with Check_mate... I keep track of my "dates" and upon reviewing I saw 28 ladies last year for a total of 42 visits. Some weeks I might see 3 ladies and then other times might go a couple of weeks between rendez-vous.

What does occur to me is how expensive this hobby can be. Assume 42 dates at $250 a piece is north of 10K in a year!

10k a year in financial cost, but what about the time prepping, travel there, finding the girl, making the appointment. There's a cost to that time as well, It's worse when a girl is a noshow or an appointment doesn't happen.

I used to do that also...think of material things I would have had I not spent them on the hobby. "I could have an iPad now if I had not had those 2 dates..."...does tend work for me for keeping it under control. But many expensive things vanish after you consume them...like going to a great restaurant...poof, or taking in a concert with front row seats...

What I find more addictive is the constant searching and reading boards and the like...I spend far too much time doing that! And yet, here I am responding...I think for me this is a bit of a secret hobby, so expressing myself around other people in the hobby brings me some kind of comfort.

When I started hobbying I was so addicted. It became an obsession/compulsion. All I could think about was seeing SPs/MPs. Everyday after work I'd come home and checkout craigslist and redzone and call up SPs. I was doing that for a few years.

Once my bank account started to dwindle I quickly snapped out of it. Now I only see an SP once in a while and a lot more picky who I see.

=( sorry to hear dude. Yea I use a different email, different phone, but there's always some variable we can't cover. Someone seeing us somewhere, them coming home early, them smelling something. a hair, stain, etc etc,

Dude, use Private browsing. even on the playbook find a private browser. they exist. For the PC every major browser has a private browsing mode. No cookies, no history. Nothing.

How addictive is this hobby for you? Is it getting worse?

When I started my ebony "hobby" about eight years ago I found that I was getting emotionally attached (to varying degrees) with several of the ladies who I met. This created considerable emotional pain although reality always kicked in sooner or later. It took much longer to get over some of the ladies than others. Without the emotional attachment I found that I just couldn't enjoy the intimate experience but with the emotional attachment it was always exciting and I wanted more and more. I was then on a "high" and was always looking forward to the next encounter, but eventually things would cool off emotionally.

Hobbying really is very much like a drug addiction. Fortunately, when you're off the wagon it's much easier to stay off the wagon and concentrate on one's family and oneself. Also, after the age of 65 I found that my body started changing quite dramatically, physiologically speaking. In particular, the desire tends to wane (particularly in the hot weather) and I have more difficulty finishing off, but in reality this is probably a blessing in disguise!

Regarding the SPs that I've met, some of the ladies were of the very highest ethical standards and integrity but some others literally took me to the cleaners with their unethical and deceptive ploys. However, these comments apply equally well to both men and women in all walks of life and, as we all know, life is a perpetual learning experience.

Addictive in not being able to stop? No, I've stopped for many months at time over the years when money was tight or I had other priorities.

However my involvement has altered my approach to relationships (I'm single). I'm in my mid 40's. Have you seen what 99% of women in their early to mid 40's look like? The idea of spending time, money and mental effort to get involved with someone in my appropriate age range for sex is zero. Instead I am a horny (and getting old) man and I love having sex with gorgeous young women. Really, it's hard to compare the two. The other benefit I find to seeing younger SP's is there is absolutely no possibility of getting emotionally involved as the age gap is so great it is truly impossible. When I first started out I saw SP's much closer to my own age (say 5-10 years younger) and I did find myself getting too attached and emotionally involved.

This hobby has definitely made me a happier and more content person. Will I be single forever because of it? No, however when I do meet women I can quickly abstract away any sexual attraction and take a hard look at them for who they are as people. I think this will give future relationships a more more solid footing.

Will I ever give it up even when such a relationship comes? Time will tell...

I started hobbying 2 years ago. I can't say I'm addicted though. I haven't hobbied in a while because the talent pool in this city is very small. There are certain traits/services I desire and Ottawa is a hobbying deadzone at the moment. I could swear it wasn't so bad when I started out. Fortunately for me I've got a business trip next week to Toronto where I'll see a different girl or two every day. Just looking at the review section in that part of the forum is giving me an erection.
