Child luring stings are possible online, or in any other forum, because unlike adult prostitution, prostitution involving anyone under the age of 18 is explicitly criminal. You cannot offer someone under the age of 18 money for sex, even if they are over the age of consent and you could legally have sex with them. Prostitution under 18 is criminal.

The reason why police wait until someone physically shows up at a location to arrest the them is (a) it's easier for the police to apprehend them this way, and (b) it is an act in furtherance of a crime and proves that they really intended to go through with it, that it wasn't just idle chatter.

Someone should mention that "entrapment" only applies if the policeman tries to convince you to commit an offence.

For example you are talking to someone and that person says "Hey want me to kill your wife?" Even if you agree it is entrapment.

Same situation, and you say "Hey will you kill my wife for me?" no problem, just a sting.

Also found in charge is valid if you are in an in-call. You do not need to be involved in sex, or even undressed. You are found in.

Same as fuji's under 18. "I thought she was young but not under 18" is not a defence.

so in summary, is it "legally" (ie. perhaps not morally) ok to ask a girl on a dating website (i.e lavalife) who is above the age of 18 for sex for money? i have done this a few times in the past (with not much luck) but it has started some interestng conversations - always wondered if i can get easily busted by a cop for doing this? or could the girl, finding that I am being really rude, take this as evidence to the police and have me busted that way?

Outcalls are legal but incalls are not ... that is stupid beyond belief. I don't have a problem with females cops charging drivers with communicating with intent (assuming the cop is not aggressively selling herself) as I would be pissed if drivers were harassing girls just out for a walk.

It actually makes at least some sense. I don't want a stream of dirty old men going in and out of my condo.

it absolutely makes perfect sense for this reason, and for the reason that in general its just not 'nice' to have a place in a particular neighbourhood as the 'go to sex' place - though most of us in here are civilized, to the general public , thoughts of a 'sex brothel' conjure up images of drugs, potential violence, disease etc etc..

Then hit them with a zoning infraction or business without a permit. I'm guessing that us dirty old men would rather show up at an industrial unit such as an MP rather than wander around apartment complexes. How many MP's are in apartment complexes ? If you want the dirty old men out - you want to legalize incalls !

I notice that the concept of using a general ban on sexual activities to enforce morality is popular on radio stations. If you legalize prostitution - sex slavery and child rape will run rampant. Enforce the laws for sex slavery and child sexual abuse - don't brush all SP's as slaves or their clients as pedophiles.

Please, could you quote the relevant section of the Criminal Code of Canada where being really rude is defined as a criminal offence. Sex for money—including negociating the deal—between adults is legal in Canada. What is criminally illegal is any aspect of doing that deal in a public place (for our purposes public means what we ordinarily think it means: other people not in on our game could see and/or hear) or doing it in a location as a businesss.

Questions about exact detailed definitions like 'is my car parked in my condo parking garage a public place' can be fun to discuss in theory. In practice they get argued and decided by expensive lawyers after you got charged. So if you have a serious question, the answer is: "That's illegal. For you."
