My heart goes out to escorts when they meet a client for the first time. They don't know who's walking through the door and what type of personality they will encounter. I got to wondering what security are the escorts providing for themselves in case things get difficult? Any ideas? It would be great to hear from some workers.

We do a lot of different things. Everyone does things a little bit differently.
I don't think you wanna know what we do for our safety
it might make you paranoid.
Some people really go out there and they have no regard for their own safety and other people take it to the extreme and I think most people are somewhere in between.
In my youth working at spas and even independently there was always a guy being paid by the hour to beat the shit out of anyone that got out of line. I don't use that method now but there are some days that I wish I did.
I use technology in a lot of different ways now to keep myself safe.
I feel like the types of calls a person takes can really make a difference too. The only time anything bad has happened to me is on an outcall. Usually but not always in a trashy area.

When possible - we screen as this is what helps us limit negative encounters.
As for other safety measures, I don’t think it is best to discuss them as I know I personally don’t want to give dangerous men a heads up in what to avoid. Keeping things just between us girls is also important in keeping us safe.

Some of the responses from escorts here does make me beleive that the methods they use are probably a bit on the intrusive side and probably would make gents "paranoid" about meeting escorts as one of the ladies said. It's kind of scary actually to know what kind of info escorts might potentially have on us gents and what lengths they might go to protect themselves. My question for the ladies would be if they would ever feel comfortable with the same methods they use for safety to be used on them either in their work life or civie life all in the name of safety of course
No, we have 'one party consent' in Canada. If one person consents to it being recorded, it's legal. And the consenting party can be the person doing the recording, and they are under no legal obligation to tell you.

As a society, we are already so free with our data and image. There are cameras everywhere we go and our data is given for everything. Personally, I don't think anyone should record anyone. This goes for both client and sp. It is definitely an invasion of privacy and can incriminate both parties.
I once had someone record me without my consent. I am lucky I noticed when i did and asked him to delete it.
I think the safety measures being used by escorts are screening, Deposits, spas have cameras in the main area but not in the rooms , agencies use upscale hotels or condos that have cameras in the parking lots, main lobby areas & most common areas.
I once had someone bring me pepper spray.. I read the laws surrounding it & decided to give to someone who actually needed it.
I dont go that far. There are different apps and registries that help. If I do things right, I don't need any pictures or recording of anyone. I already know where they live and where they work.

I feel like unless something really bad happens and the police get involved its pretty hard to identify a person based on just a photo or video alone. Information is more helpful and more valuable than a photo or recording.

I knew an indie lady that used to have a black dude hiding in the other room as her security.
There are also the cases of high volume asian escorts being robbed. Back 5-10 yrs ago MW was the top agency and the girls got robbed, even raped. It's evil and cowardly the owner had to have security guys in with the high volume girls. They also had cameras installed.
Thanks for all these comments. It got a bit off topic when discussing the efficacies of videos and consent but, this has provided a possible suggestion to a different question I had and that's why the escorts I've seen are so affectionate the moment I walk in the room. Firstly, I think it's great they don't waste valuable time and the immediate action puts me in the mood but, I also wondered if by doing so, the woman prevents you from looking round the room and seeing anything they don't want you to see.
