Like in Quebec I do not think a full lock down will be imposed. Most probably just more restriction.

The goal for public health for this wave of infection is to make sure they have enough healthcare workforce to face hospitalization.

It's a wait and see approach because yes the few data available did report much less severe variant. But so contagious that we need to quarantine healthcare workers we could be in deep shit.

We will be locked down in the new year . We should have been locked down a long time ago. We don’t know enough about omicron. I hope everyone is staying home and staying safe.

Before Omicron hit, I noticed a number of people were getting lax about making when they went shopping. That could have helped the spread of Delta and Omi...

As for lockdowns....I sort of think they won't do it, or will only do a half-assed one. Maybe kids need to stay home for a few weeks after the Christmas break....but I am under the impression that might not happen....

I’m not good at the Ford guessing game. I figured we would have already heard by now.

But I guess maybe the 27th?

Testing is way behind. A family member got a PCR back after 4-days yesterday, when it has taken 1-2 days throughout the pandemic. A friend told me she can’t even get a test for at least two days in the Toronto core.

Even if hospitalizations are relatively low, isolation orders are already starting to really fuck with essential services.

At the same time, what are they going to do? Schools closing down makes sense, but is that it? I feel like two weeks after New Years could be a problem.

Election in the spring = no significant lockdown. Maybe schools will go online for a couple weeks and capacity limits may drop but Ford knows how his populist base will respond if he goes back to everything closed except essential services.

What wrong with you fools wanting a lockdown, lockdown don't work it just hurt economy so badly. Hospital numbers are still very low, this Omicron variant is not deadly,
Have you previously brought this to our attention?

I agree, he fears his base and I can't say I blame him. He is caught between a rock and a hard place. The trump card would be if hospitalizations were to go through the roof with ICU beds being completely filled up.

I think it will be something like 'Lockdown-lite' beginning around New Years Day. He can't go full lockdown again
in an election year, particularly with his base. Restaurants stay at 50 percent capacity. Gyms, schools, theatres
closed. Pro sports play on but closed to the public. You can see triple vaxxed people in small groups. This goes
on till at least April. And likely masks all next year or at least till next fall.

We’ve never had a lockdown so far. We’ve always been free to walk the streets and drive around the province without having to show papers unlike in some countries.

Good point. Remember when the Province wanted police to do random spot checks? The police said "No way, don't make us the bad guys".

Schools will go virtual after Xmas break. And we will see a partial lockdown either right after Xmas or right after New Years.

They are waiting for the holiday to pass so people don’t freak out as bad about a lockdown
I suspect the same. Probably don’t want to ruin the Christmas spirit by announcing it just yet

I would hate that, Doug Ford had the longest lockdowns ...he said because we would not have another one. So if we do, he has lost my vote
