If only we knew Omicron, the next variant, would be 10%-20% more transmissible than Delta, we could've been prepared. But nobody knew this was coming and hospital staffing is already stretched super thin. So to answer the question, the lockdowns will continue until we have a handle on hospitalizations and ICU admissions. Wait for the spike in cases from NYE celebrations.
You have 85% protection against hospitalization and 95% protection against being sent to the ICU if you're double vaxxed. Thankfully the unvaccinated make up just 15%-20% of the population, but they'll once again be the majority who'll be using up hospital resources. Now go ahead, clap your hands. It's your right to refuse the vaccine and prolong these lockdowns.
I'll also add, you can try blaming this Government, but this is not an Ontario specific problem. Just about every country around the world is dealing with the exact same issues.
