I have thought about that and it depends on your skill, intelligence and how hard you work
I saw this guy dressed like Gandhi on his knees begging outside the eaton center and man
was he racking in the 5 and 10 dollar bills
You have to learn psychology and how to milk the crowd
Just standing there does not make money
It seems like hard work to make good money but you pay no taxes, collect welfare
and some get drug and dental coverage and if you live in a tent or public housing you have no housing costs so those homeless guys could be saving up some real solid cash and investing in index funds
while most people are stuggling paycheck to paycheck but I would much rather have a real job
as being a good beggar is hard work
A great example is I saw a guy selling at a sports event with an over the top and well thought out friendly personality and people were buying his peanuts just to say hello and he was making a killing.
While he was not a beggar the same concept applies. Hard work and well thought out
people psychology
Another example is this street guy was selling potato peelers but really
good imported ones and was making real good money
While not a beggar he was a begging saleman with no permit or overhead while street
selling a quality product for 10 times cost
I wonder if a quality doorman who just goes around opening doors could make good money in tips
Buskers are beggars and this guy at the buskerfest was acting like a gay whip master
and was hilarious then would go around filling up a garbage bag with tips
So, there is some very good money in it for sure but you need to be good and a hard worker
But, now that I think of it, post covid is a new world for beggars as people have gone cashless
and their job has been taken over by automation
