The hunt is over. He was found hiding in a boat in someones back yard. Great news - http://www.nypost.com/p/news/national/shots_heard_in_watertown_Ksjbz6lkB83dxUiCUgs7OP

Next discussion - does he deserve the death penalty? Massachusetts does not allow it. The kid and his brother killed 3 people including an an 8 year old boy and 2 young women. Locking him up for life in prison - will he repent? I don't think so. How about you?

If there is no death penalty, locking up forever in the worst possible conditions is punishment not possible redemption. It will be interesting to see if any Homelands Security provisions come into it.

Of course, Justin Trudeau might intervene to see why they feel alienated from society.

So of course the US authorities would never think of asking him why they did what they did?

Let's turn him over to the Russians. They know how to deal with Chechens.

Let's not forget the 4 innocent dead victims and the many wounded, some maimed for life.

I think they should lock him up for the rest of his natural life and have someone break one bone every day till all have been broken. Then let them heal and start over again, except for his nose and jaw. Punch him in the face every day to keep them broke.

I saw that interview Justin Trudeau did with Peter Mansbridge.
Mansbridge asked how Trudeau as PM would respond in such a situation.

As you indicated, his answer focused on "why they feel alienated from society" ???

What a pussy !

I would prefer a leader who's first thought were to ensure there was not a more wide spread threat and do what is required to protect Canadian lives
He is not ready for the top job, nor do I think he will ever be.

The Feds get first bite at prosecution if they want to, and from what the U.S. Attorney said tonight, I suspect that he will be tried on Federal Charges. There is a federal death penalty, but I do not know whether it will be asked for.

I remember Jean Chretien's response to 9/11 was not unlike Trudeau's
Boston bombing comments in some way. If memory serves Chretien made
remarks along the line of poverty in the third world and 'arrogant' west
being the root cause. Security of our nation didn't seem to be his first concern.
I was surprised he didn't come under fire at the time like Trudeau,

I think everyone would like some answers as to why these two douche bags did what they did. Not just Justin.

And how would you propose one goes about that without understanding the root cause? You are acting like a panicked school girl. I think it's pretty clear YOU will never be ready lol.

As Aardvark indicated above, this has been handled as a Federal case since Monday, and remains a Federal case now.

Reports say the Feds have chosen to not "Mirandize" the suspect at this time (although it is unclear whether he is in any condition to be interviewed at present - he is in hospital in "serious" condition, presumably from blood loss after injuries sustained early Friday in a gun battle). This is permitted as an exception under current US law for "national security" concerns - e.g. if they want to question him about other possible plots or explosive devices before he retains a lawyer.

The only issue is that the answers he gives before consulting a lawyer *might* not be able to be used against him in a court of law. But there is considered to be overwhelming evidence against him already, prosecutors are not expected to be relying on his admissions in their prosecution.

Commentators were noting that the last time a Federal Death Warrant case was proceeded with was for Timothy McVeigh - the Oklahoma City fertilizer bomber; McVeigh was ultimately executed after his federal conviction.
