believe that the research shows, about 30% either abstain from smoking or smoke less at 3 months following intervention

had one session about 15 years ago, and never smoked again. i was highly motivated, so not sure how much was willpower and how much was the hypnotism. i think it's worth a shot.

with that in mind... for depression i found Hypno helps for a few months..but when you are in the shit and see shit. it returns..hope it isn't the same for smoking..acupuncture worked for a family member in the mid 80's (pin in the ear) hasn't touched one since

My brother was pack and 1/2 a day smoker for about 25 years.

Acupressure worked for him. He hasn't had a smoke in about 7 years. I can't remember details on where the acupressure was, but I think it was something to do with his ears. :)

slight hijack... anyone use have the hobby of collecting the aluminum foil from the cigarette packaging and make a ball over the years from it!?

You only have to do one thing to quit smoking... it is really very simple...

Doesn't cost a cent, takes no time at all to complete, & no appointment is necessary.... Just:

DON'T LIGHT ANOTHER CIGARETTE! EVER!

And for all you naysayers that say that CAN'T BE DONE, That is EXACTLY how I quit 5,839 days ago.

It will be my 16 yr anniversary of quitting that habit on Sunday, Aug. 30th...

My twelve-yr-old daughter came home from a garage sale with a book she had bought, with her own money, for me, called "How to quit smoking."

I never did read the book, but I haven't smoked since.

Quit at all costs. That about sums it up. Try cold turkey. Try nicorettes. Try patches. Acupuncture. Acupressure. Laser therapy. Hypnosis. Whatever it takes. Some of the above work for some people, not for others. I suspect the success/failure rate has a lot to do with where you are personally when you try it. For myself, patches did the trick after many years of trying cold turkey again and again.

I think that all of the systems/products out there for quitting smoking work... for some people. What works 100% for one person may score 0% with another. You have to find which combination of your earnest desire to quit and the product/system that gives you the help you need to get over the cravings.

My wife quit by decision alone. I have a few friends that did the patch. Others succeeded with other means. I gave one coworker a sheet from the pharmacy that said "after so many hours/days/weeks/years these good things happen..." and he said it helped him alot as he could look at it when he was desperate for a smoke and see what he was going to give up if he gave in. He had failed several times before using the patch, hypnotism, acupuncture and other things.

Just remember that failing to quit this time does not mean that you can't quit. Pick yourself up and try a different method.

Best of luck!

I found champix very effective for taking the cravings away. The first day or two following cold turkey is very tough, every fiber of your being wants a cig. I am not joking when I say this; even in the face of such cravings I pop a champix and within seconds I feel the soothing comfort like I would if I just had a cigarette.

I am on my 2nd smoke free day, I quit for about a month a few weeks back but then I had a big set back. All I need is champix for the first day, after that it is all willpower and the nicotine gum. Normally you take champix for 2 months, but I get crazy dreams and get all tired when I am on it.
