I've met a lot of people in the industry, and one is my best friend, so if this came up with anyone in my life (friend or lover) I would tell them what I've seen good and bad. IMHO it's a tough as hell job that if you don't need don't do, if you do need figure out a plan and try to stick with it as well as possible. If it was a lover I'd look for other options but respect her decision.

Not so sure about the first part ....

Discourage. Income potential is limited and diminishes with age.

But the second part is one potential concern. Having a family is another one. The open relationship aspect wouldn't bother me near as much as the practical considerations.
