OK- lets look passed the headlines for just a second... Years ago, this may have been an issue, but not anymore.

Are you aware of the fact that 99% of the factories in China undergo RIGOROUS inspections to MAKE 100% sure that they are following ALL Human Rights/ ethics codes etc.? If they don't pass inspection, they get red listed and will not be allowed to ship goods. That is FACT! Every major retailer and brand in North America that sources product from the orient/ Asia etc. has Code of Ethics and Human Rights standards that MUST be followed. Inspections are done at the retailer/ brand's discretion and are "unannounced" so the factory cannot "cheat".

Yeah, and if you believe this, I've got some real estate at a great mortgage rate just for you!

I did not say that China had a good record, just that they are not the only country with a poor one. Big difference.

Yes! Of course I believe it... It is MY BUSINESS. Dealing with these issues is a part of my livelihood, so I am NOT just making off the cuff remarks. I deal with EVERY CANADIAN retailer and some MAJOR USA retailers as well, and also some MAJOR North American Brands. We also deal with Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, and have dealt with India in the passed.

Also, with all the foreclosures in the USA, I am SURE there's some good deals to be had... and haven't you heard? Interest rates are tumbling!

Didn't China have that milk that was spike with poison, wasn't it food from China that made so many dogs sick from the bad pet food.


I am all for stopping trade with China but I'm not the president either

I will not buy any food for myself that was made in China, I look to see where the food is made before I buy it. But with pet food you can not see where all the grains and chicken comes from, just where it is shipped from.

Yes the US had child labor abuse but thanks to unions and laws it is not widespread anymore.

i've seen it one time...the butcher would first hang the dog upside down and puncture a hole at the bottom to drain out the blood first...after most of the blood is drained, they start to cut the legs off, then head and then slice open the front belly area to take out the kidney's, liver and etc...after that, i dunno as i was totally sickend and left the scene! btw, this was actually somewhere in Canada...

Eaxactly, I hate this sanctimonious drivel against 3rd-world countries, here in Canada we clun to death 1 million baby seals a year, where's the OP's outrage on this?

Not just seals we also kill millions of cows yearly, and nobody bats an eye.

Are you really that naive?

Do you know where the feed comes from that's fed to your livestock that you end up eating?

Are conditions in South America (where a lot of produce comes from) so good?

Do you buy any products from China? Do you check every label? Do you know where the parts that comprise many finished products come from?

And as far as labour laws - how many illegal immigrants work in the U.S. at less than minimum wage and often in poor conditions or for excessive hours (by U.S. laws)?

Climb down from your high horse and have a look around before you single out one country - lest you want to sound like other posters who write the same virulent drivel...
