Depends on what kind of clients you want to focus on. If you are focusing on mid upper to upper scale, having flash is fine. The foreign biz men like bells and whistles.

But also try to offer non flash pages for those who don't want it.

Lara's page is a good reference indeed.

Sorel’s site is super clean & neat, excellent pictures too. simple is best.

For Zeta, almost everyone with a computer and the office package can do a web site, but there is a big difference in professionalism between the different people offering the service. Check online samples of the work, and email the clients and check references. If they do not have lots of online samples, then you are most likely just paying them to learn, and can expect problems.

In an earlier attempt to debunk the claims against the usability of Flash, I realized my explaination was too long and too technical.

-Macromedia Flash content is generally gratuitous, superficial and annoying.

-The Macromedia Flash content is generally built once and not updated.

-Macromedia Flash content does not adhere to many of the established standards for Web content.

I do agree to some extent that much of the Flash content currently deployed on the Web provides ample justification for these arguments. Unfortunately, critics have focused on what designers have done with Flash rather than what can be done with the product. Flash designers/developers should start using Flash to imporve on usability flaws inherent to the web. Slow downloads and confusing navigation are problems for all web surfers, and not just those surfing Flash sites. When executed correctly, with attention paid to the needs and wants of users, Macromedia Flash content can actually improve the user experience on any Web site.

One last question: With regards to audio format, will you provide CD's, DAT Master, PCM, or simply Quicktime files? If digital, 44.1/48 or 96k? We can accom. all of the above. It's simply a matter of time involved for each process, especially if we're stepping it down.

We can also provide sweetening by sending it through a TC Elect. Finalizer or M5000 for dynamic compression prior to formatting if we're dealing with source material.

Hello Zeta,
With the advent of Flash MX 2004, entire dynamic websites can be created solely with flash...Whatever you have in your head can be brought to life on the screen... However, I do agree with KBear"simple is best" and you can go a little too crazy....My site was made entirely with Flash and I've had nothing but positve feedback from those gentleman not on a dial-up service. Those on dial-up have the misfortune of waiting forever to view flash sites and graphics due to the ridiculously slow download times. (It only costs $10 dollars more per month on average for high speed service from most internet service providers and most hotels now offer high speed service with a standard room. McDonalds offers high speed internet at some locations now!)
This is the only problem when thinking of using Flash for you site.
Check your PM box and get back to me...

Ok as far as the flash bashing goes try MX 2004 Professional it uses XHTML and CSS all compliant. It has usability 508 built in if you know what you are doing. Updates can be created with a simple app that allows u to input from your hard drive for pictures music and video which can all be external files. All you need is a data base hosted. I prefer CFM or MySQL or even a Filemaker DB.
text can also be external files which can be updated. Flash can be used to create any application you want for the web just how much do you want to spend. Also if you do get someone that uses flash ask them for there proof of having a license for it. I charge upward of 100 dollars and hour for my work when working with flash.
IMHO opinion i do agree with most of the others for what you are offering as a service a nice XHTML CSS site will more then be adequate. Just keep the file size down and nothing cheesey...PLEASE!!!
Try and stick to web standards. Easier to update later and will be cross platform compliant except for Explorer which is the only browser that does not support standards well.
More info PM me.
I am very busy and can honestly say site delivery time will be not sooner then 3 monthes. i have 2 projects pending as well as my existing clients that take priority.
