I would like to be the first to welcome all those who watched and nodded to Obama's press conference, this evening.

Close your zippers and begin the spin.

I know it is premature but hey why wait till the posts begin?:p

he talks and talks and says nothing
everybody claims he has done so much?
passed a bill ( not stimulus) that any president could of gotten passed when u control Congress and the economy is in a recession.
So many other countries have passed similiar bills.
He has proposed and budgeted more money then all previous Presidents combined.
what else? says we should not " torture"
wants to close Guantanamo?
oh yeah he also allowed billions in earmarks(wasteful spending)

That very astute intelligent and perceptive Arlen Specter along with the VAST majority of real Americans thought it was an excellent presentation by Obama tonight.

Only those mentally impaired seem to have problems here!....:p

The serf has his own thread. I'll play.

Woody, i only caught 2 min of that broadcast. My 95 year old mother, Irish matriarch of our household, called to me and said, 'Obama looks tired'.. She wanted my attention to something we discuss daily. I looked in for 2 min of it.

He's a doing a good show and tell. Unfortunately it ain't going to fly. They are feeding the monster.

At the moment there are two schools of thought. I think i might be alone in one. In the other school, Obama is winning against the evil GOP who was thwarted in midstream coup. Added: the evil GOP is out of money to run their game, and they are at odds with the present administration, trying their utmost to undermine it.

In my reality, Obama is a player. We are being played.

There could be the wild card scenario. Its a long shot, but here it is. We had a Prime Minister once with a socialist bent. He wrote that the way to change the government is from within. So, get elected first, and then...

You got that right.
No kidding, there was a Reuters headline a couple of days ago about Obama focusing on cutting the deficit, while at the same time pushing for a Budget that represented a 10% of GDP deficit. I know the PBS crowd can't do math but please, this is just pure propaganda - the left (and their PR firms the MSM) are so desperate for this guy to be popular it's frightening.

at present Obama has the media for teh most part following along like good little staffers. The liberal left still has hopes he will do what he said he campaigned on but there are cracks forming in the base.

The President won the election 101 days ago but is still basically campaigning for the job. That seams to me to be a problem why is he still doing that as opposed to actually governing .

Does he have that much faith in the abilties of staff and congress that he can just let them run free.

The conclusion I come to is he does not have the confidence in his abilities to govern and has become insulated by his staff who know what has to be done at least in their view at any rate

Of the government, yes, but who knew they got the media in the deal..... must be why FOX News has twice the credibility as the next higher news network...

Only in America would a quality of eloquence and intelligence be considered a character flaw.

I guess the usual suspects long for a return to the good ole days of a President speeking in incoherent sentences, giving speeches written phonically and making up words.

Chill out Bush whackers and stop misunderestimating Obama.

Perhaps the Obama brand’s most effective advertising was supplied free of charge by those journalists who, as courtiers of a rapacious system, promote shining knights. They depoliticised him, spinning his platitudinous speeches as “adroit literary creations, rich, like those Doric columns, with allusion...” (Charlotte Higgins in the Guardian). The San Francisco Chronicle columnist Mark Morford wrote: “Many spiritually advanced people I know... identify Obama as a Lightworker, that rare kind of attuned being who... can actually help usher in a new way of being on the planet.”
