I think most of us can agree that sifting through the list of political/current event/generally idiotic threads in the lounge is an unwise use of time. However, there is currently nowhere else to post industry-related threads except in a review section, and most people are using this section (in-call reviews) for that purpose. Creating a new section for industry discussion (safety, tips, non-review stories, etc.) and recommendations would accomplish a few objectives that I consider worthwhile:

1. Eliminate the need for people uninterested in non-industry topics to visit The Lounge
2. Reduce the number of non-review threads in review sections
3. Allow someone to ask for a recommendation without having to decide ahead of time if the SP should be an indy or with an agency

There would probably be even more benefits that I can't think of at the moment. Ideally, a section like this would be grouped with the review sections and not in the general area so that the latter can remain ignored. I get that it would be impossible to move every relevant old thread from the lounge into a new section, but I'm not aware of any other argument against this.

Glad to hear any thoughts.

Never double posted in my life, but I think this should be seen again. Way too many non-review threads, many of which are the opposite of a review (e.g. requests FOR a review). Frankly, I am shocked that people are satisfied with the current design. I wouldn't call it out of line to want to read industry-related threads without going to The Lounge, while also wanting to keep the review sections for actual reviews.

Any reasoning from those who voted no?
