Officially the SR-71 was retired from service a few years ago. While the propulsion and lifting technology was and still is cutting edge, the cost of running the SR-71 vs satellite surveillance was deemed too costly by the US Department of Defence over the protests of some within the US Air Force.

The X-33 was cancelled in 2001 but not before some initial success in the proof-of-concept vehicle.
