Definition of a conservative:

A liberal who got robbed.

Simple message to the liberals out there:

Punish your damn criminals. Make people responsible for their actions. Want to bet that the person who committed this crime has been in the criminal justice system before? Want to bet he will be in it again?

tinting your windows is not nessesarily a good thing because it makes them more curious. My buddy has dark tints and his window got smashed in for some change and clothes.

Thanks to everyone. I hope it won't happen to anyone else but to be realistic, it will. Just hope your not there when it happens.

I'm like CityTV - EVERYWHERE
that's a good point about tinting ...some people just ask for it, driving around system blaring etc etc ...it does make them curious. My friend had her car broken into 4 times in 2 months in her underground garage (the superintendant was probably in on it and turned a blind eye to the cameras) and she typically forgets her stuff in her car ..and her car just happened to be a civic..all times, they've done more damage to the car breaking in, then the valuables actually. now if we're dealing with professionals, they'll find a way to get in/take your rims etc (a la 'Gone in 60 seconds') hell, i have a tool to take off ANY lock nuts..

my car ain't no shitbox, it's pretty nice actually (pats self on back) and b/c of all the stuff i've seen, i've pretty much left my car unlocked, take my aftermarket steering wheel with me where ever i go, and take one of the hoses from my engine so they can't take the car, but can freely look inside and if they want my stock radio, they can have it...if they want my smelly, beat up hockey equipment, take it ..what i do may seem a tad extreme, but hey, i haven't had a problem ever

Try dealing with Police where i live on west island in Montreal. My home was broken into and they made it out to be my fault too. My fault for not having bars on window..... my fault for not having premium plan insurance and security..... my fault for leaving my dog in bedroom. It goes on and on.

Im sure your insurance will cover it.
Really? I thought car insurance policies no longer covered personal property. They were getting too many false claims about stolen golf clubs, TVs, laptops, etc. I know I got notification about 2 years ago that this was a new policy change. incognito may be more pissed about this than the cops reaction.

"In before" you say? "Will be again"? So this punishment thing we're supposed to do; how does it work then?

NewsFlash: no one has yet succeeded in "making" people anything. Not even God, Jesus and all the prophets. That's why amputation doesn't work in Muslim countries any better than hanging petty thieves did in Britain. And the Three Strikes thing is a runaway success I hear. Save some of whatever you're smoking for me, please.

People can make themselves change, and if thieves know that the cops pursue and catch their kind, even they might be bright enough to give that occupation up. After all, it's a hard way to turn a buck. But that'll take lotsa cops on the street, not in cars, and that takes taxes. Gasp! not that! Might be even cheaper for us if there were jobs for these bozos, so they could pay taxes, but that is a $64K question isn't it? Still, bet there aren't many job holding, tax-paying smash n' grab guys.

Interesting isn't it, that it's often the most punished kids who grow up to punish society—just check the backgrounds of the prison population.

These days California alone imprisons more people than most the countries of Europe put together, and I've heard no one reccommending vacations in Lompoc—in fact didn't some of the photo star MPs from Abu Ghraib learn their trade there? So if you're right California's crime rate would be real low, and Europe's real high.

Right on.

Definition of a liberal: a conservative who actually thinks

Just as an aside, for my own interest: based on the way you use the terms liberal and conservative—could you be from south of the 49th jrrreader? Because we actually have political parties (two of them, no important ideological differences) with those names—to say nothing of being in the midst of an election—the liberal/conservative obsession some Americans have can sometimes produce misunderstandings, when exported to our side of the line. Of course, if you're a fellow Canadian, you're just plain wrong. And maybe even a Sens fan.

Oldjones is right, there is no perfect system to create a utopia. Too much punishment doesnt work on criminals and too much liberalism doesnt work either. I think the western countries have the best system in that we live in a reasonably safe society.
