Sounds like an old ploy a friend of mine used to use to get out of a date if it wasn't going well. If he was meeting someone new (not a sw) he would have me call him at a certain time. I would say nothing and I could tell from his fake conversation if it was going well or not. If I heard "Really? that's terrible. I will be there as soon as I can" I knew he was going to bail on her. I f I heard , "ok thanks for the call and I will call you tomorrow." I knew he was going to stay.
Worked well for him except for the time I called him, he answered but the call got dropped so I called back and he was fake talking when the phone rang again. She knew what he was up to...lol
