So I just got back from the appointment and yes this is correct so we're going a different route and doing embryo freezing.

I'm now on the waiting list to harvest and insemination.

The storage fee is only 395$ a year which is completely reasonable.

We can unfreeze and put the embryo back in at any time.

I'm truly ecstatic.

Small hiccup, they took 8 viles of blood and I got queasy and lightheaded I had to go lay down for 20 mins.

Thanks for your support and interest everyone! :)
A much better choice and success rate than your first choice. Best of luck and best wishes on becoming a mom. (y)

I don't think women should be freezing their eggs. They should only buy enough at one time to match what they plan to eat within a couple of weeks, then get fresh ones at the supermarket when they run out. Sure, the price has gone up recently, but not enough to justify paying $395 to store old ones.

I also don't personally approve of in vitro fertilization, because the fastest sperm is meant to fertilize the egg, not one randomly scooped up by a pipette.

One thing I hate about liquid eggs is the best before date is ages in the future but there in the small print it says it should be used within 5 or 7 days [I forget] Ditto for some milk. The ancient one gets the good shit with an expiry date far in the future but again small print, for best freshness yadda yadda, now granted I don't know how bad it would be if you open it up on purchase but didn't drink it all till long past the week.

As for your second point, I never thought of that, but yeah.

But you gotta do what you gotta do.

Don't wait too long to have kids.

Male or female you don't want to be having kids in your 40s. Nature knows what it's doing.

A little true story.

A female friend of mine had her first child at 34. It was a long labour and a tough natural delivery. She told me she had no idea how tough it was going to be. After it was over, before she left the hospital, she remarked to the nurse about how hard it was on her and she said, "I can't imagine how a 15 or 16 year old girl could go thru something like that".

The nurse just looked at her and grinned a sly knowing grin and remarked, "honey, it's way easier on them".

It's true when you think about it. From a societal point of view, teenage moms are frowned upon as being too young, but from a physiological point of view, 16 makes more sense, a lot more sense than 40 or even 35.
I admire anyone that makes life choices that often aren’t easy to reverse. So long as they are old enough to be making that decision for themselves.

Stats on our longevity/birth rates are not good. And it’s very true that we are having children later in life. 60 years ago, ( 1960s) single income families were still pretty common. Today…..busy lives, careers, the rat race…

Besides the difficulties childbirth at a later age brings. There’s raising them. Having rug rats needing constant attention in your 40s, is not the same as when in the 20s. Getting them to dance/hockey when you’re in the 50s….dealing with puberty and the things late teen years brings when your pushing 60…

Dont know you Perfection. Your reasons are your own, and that I can “applaud”.

2023 update:

2 months of cycle monitoring

2 weeks of estrogen hormones

10 days of abdominal injections

I paid for all the medication out of pocket (approx 6k) but was able to get a grant through OHIP for the procedure.

My eggs are ready/ripe on Monday 😂 . Will share after how many embryos were successful..

I never thought I would have children so now that this is in the cards for me I've been so emotional. #icamesofar

Highly recommend this route for anyone who's fiance, wife, girlfriend etc that wants to have children but has put her career first at the moment. FYI embryos are better to freeze than just eggs.

Ciao!

I am glad that women can include men in this discussion. We can be sensitive and have our own questions.

So you are hosting a party and you have run short of caviar .....

Tomorrow is my first appointment with the fertility doctor after doing all the phone screening.

I'm going to extract one round of eggs. I'm obviously at the optimal age for this process. A little further down the road I'm going to explore the next options like IVF etc.

I'm so excited about this. My childhood best friend got me started on the process because she froze hers after her first baby.

Just wondering if your wives or anyone else you know has gone this route. I have lots of anxiety around the issue.

A mini Kelly would be so cute 😉
No anxiety, here's the sperm donor

Also who’s gonna support with a second income and who’s gonna be the strong male influence in the child’s life?
Embryos are fertilized ;)

The procedure was a success and they retrieved 23 eggs.

It really took me awhile to sleep off the after affects of the sedation. Still don't feel completely back to 100 a week later.

19 were mature and used.

We will receive a progress report soon of how many are growing properly.

I hope you and your SO have taken into consideration or have a contract about what happens in the event of a break up with regards to custody, child support etc for the embryo

With all this technology and advancements eventually people will start to realize how disposable and dispensable men are. Although men’s egos can’t handle this fact.

Women will basically have their pick and provide more value to a society since they can procreate without any man in their life and do everything we can but more.

This is why in many countries and cultures women are repressed because men fear them.

Woman is goddess woman is giver of life

You couldn’t be more wrong.
