I have had a bunch of frustrating experiences with indies recently and I'm wondering if this is normal or if I've just had some bad luck.

First indie - I was in her city just for the day for a work meeting and booked a 6 hour date (planning to take her for dinner, etc). Sent her a 25% deposit. Date was supposed to start at 5 pm. She texted me in the morning to tell me the building she worked in for her other job had been damaged overnight and she needed to go over there and check out the damage and she might need to push our date later or shorten it. I said no problem and asked her to text me once she got there with an update on how bad the damage was and a more accurate ETA (i.e. is it bad enough that she'll want to cancel altogether). She agreed to update me once she got there.

3 pm rolls around, still no answer. I texted her asking for an update on whether our date was going ahead, received no response. Texted again at 4 pm (an hour before the date was scheduled to start), no response. She responded at 4:30 saying maybe we can push the date to 8 pm and getting mad at me for having texted twice for an update (even though she had promised to provide one). I agreed to push the date to 8 pm. She texted at 6:30 pm and said she would have to cancel. Wasn't upset by her needing to take care of her other job, was upset by her agreeing to give me an update when she got there and not doing so; I could have done something else with my evening if she had let me know sooner.

Second indie - booked a 6 hour date again with a plan for a leisurely dinner, etc. The night before our date, she texted me to say something came up and she wouldn't be able to see me. I asked about rescheduling; we rescheduled for the following week. She accepted a 25% e-transfer deposit. The morning of our rescheduled date, I texted to confirm we were still on. She texted back at 10:00 am saying yes we're still on. Then three hours before our date was to start, she texted to cancel and say she couldn't "do this session at this time" and didn't "realize it earlier." She returned the deposit, but again after already cancelling and rescheduling on me and then cancelling again three hours before the session, I was really annoyed.

Third indie - saw her four times and it went well, then we'd booked a fifth date (again, 6 hours, it's my preferred duration), then the day before the fifth date, she cancelled saying she was sick. We rescheduled and I sent a deposit. Then the morning of our rescheduled date, she texted me to say she wouldn't be able to see me and returned the deposit. I am obviously not going to see her again given the flakiness.

Two other indies I've contacted recently to try to get something set up; one hasn't responded yet (emailed five days ago) and one responded asking for more info about what I want our date to look like and then didn't respond after that. I am always respectful in emails and in my initial inquiry include date, time, duration of booking, and real world screening info. I'm looking at "higher-end" ladies through Tryst who charge $400-$600 per hour; I'm not using LeoList or running into scams. Each one of these five ladies has multiple positive reviews on terb.

Is this a normal experience to have with indies? Are they all just bad at admin? Kinda crazy to me that they'd be cancelling last minute a $2000+ booking.

Did the first Indie return your 25% deposit?

At least indie 2&3 were nice enough to return your deposit. Most just ghost you and steal the deposit.

In my own experience, booking with indies has always (except maybe 1 or 2 over the years) been seamless, even more reliable than agencies. However there is a subset of people out there who are terrible at time management, or worse are just flaky and or don’t care about wasting your time, or even worse, they might be dealing with personal or substance issues that prevent the appropriate follow through. Look for girls that are well reviewed not only service wise, but those who have comments that the booking process was easy/ reliable.

Well, shit does happen. With Indies and Agencies. Sounds like you really did have a bad streak of luck.

I had a prebook with an Agency girl on Saturday night that I set up last week Tuesday which I was really looking forward to; unfortunately, when Saturday morning rolled around the Booker had to cancel the appointment as the girl started her period.

At least with the Agency I didn't have to front money in advance for a deposit.

But since we are talking about Indies, I'll give you a story.

I saw this one girl (who is on this board) on an Independent basis two times successfully. I would have her take an Uber out to Oakville and meet me at the Holiday Inn; I would give her a $100 E-transfer deposit to cover her Uber in advance.

Third time, I get to the Hotel and I have a text from her that she needs to push the start time of our date back; ok, no problem. Not soon after, I get a text saying she needs to cancel due to a personal emergency.

So, I'm out the cost of the room and the $100. And it's so late in the day there is no way I can get another girl to come see me on short notice.

She offered to return the $100 deposit; I declined. She said she would give me extra time on our next date; I said "sure" and let her think everything was ok; but I knew I wasn't going to call her again.

La la land
I wouldn't call those ladies again.
Always have a back plan. You were in Oakville DD is close to you if you weren't picky on the type of girls.

I agree they should all have called earlier, but it seems they didn't - because they didn't want you to see someone else. People are weird.

Cancellations happen and you just hit a bad streak of 3 in a row. Frustrating, most definitely. The first one I have the least respect for since her updating protocol seemed a bit slow. The other two, too many reasons that could be legit for them cancelling but their last minute cancellations seem suspect. And why Tryst and not other well reviewed indies? Higher priced SPs doesn't always mean better service or communication.
Maybe try seeing "newer" SPs for shorter times and then extend the times if you click with them and establish a good connection. As already mentioned always have a plan B.

Chalk it up to just bad luck mate. Lots of other great indies out there that I am sure you will have no issues with.

Why did you decline the $100?

She needed the $100 more than I did; trust me.

This incident occurred last year in November. Since then, she hasn't proactively reached out to me to say: "Hey, how are you doing? I feel really bad about the last time. I wanna see you again."

If she had, I wouldn't have replied anyways - because if she can do something like that to me once, she'll do it again.

I just considered the $100 to be "sunk cost" like the money I spent on the Hotel Room. I could have bad-mouthed her name all over the board....but I won't.

I think you were either unlucky or something happened before the date that had them reconsider.... it's not common.

What could have happened before the date that had them reconsider?
Could be a few things. Maybe you were blacklisted by a provider because of bad previous behavior, maybe something you said or requested, maybe you are too hard to do... 6 hrs is a long time maybe it overworked them.

Agreed! Some indy providers are currently or have previously worked at an agency as well… or at the very least… have friends at agencies. In other words… lots of crossover and lots of resources if they want to do a background check on clients, just as we do research on them.

I certainly know the frustration of the OP as its happened to me several times over the years. 80%+ of the ladies I have seen have been indy's. I'd say in at least 1/3 of the dates I set up the lady has flaked. Its the nature of the biz unfortunately.

Also true. Extremely demanding job physically and mentally. I had to postpone date in the past because I knew I could not give my 100% and I would not take peoples money and disappoint them. I know for some time was wasted so I offered something but better time than money!
