Comfortable footwear for sure

Hey babe,
Vegas is great especially with the weather and bright lights. To get on the plane you should present your passport (if you don't have a valid -not expired passport- than have your Canadian Citizenship photo card with you). Be sure that the name on your airplane ticket voucher is spelled the same as on your passport or citizenship card (give the correct spelling to the travel agent or whoever is booking the trip for you). Remember to buy some extra travel health insurance. It can be purchased along with your ticket and is often cheap (less than $70 and worth it; you'll be given a business card with a toll-free worldwide phone number to call from your vacation spot if you require(d) medical attention).

The only other thing I'd recommend is for your physical comfort on the plane. This being your first plane trip you won't know how your feet will react...some people's feet swell because of the changes in cabin / atmospheric preasure. Walking sandals or other comfortable open-toed footwear are ideal. Because your heading to the desert climate wear some open toed footwear; something you can also comfortably walk in along the vegas casino strip . Ah...vive las vegas. You go girl.

You can also use your bith certificate and drivers license.

The birth certificate shows proof of citizenship because you were born here and the drivers license will have the photo id.

You can pick-up a passport application from most travel agents' offices. Once you get your passport photo taken at one of hundreds of photoshops i.e. Blacks, then get a government approved professional who has known you for atleast two years to sign / authenticate your photos. The professional person can be your family doctor, dentist or pharmacist or anyone else listed in the instructions part of the passport application. Express Post your completed application with the photos and proof of id required along with the fee. You may get your new passport within 5 weeks.

As for the citizenship card, you can still obtain one even if you were born in Canada. It can not be used on its own to enter other countries but can presently be used to get in to the USA. And it doesn't have an expiry date like a passport. Call your local MP (member of parlaiment) for instructions on getting the card. Good luck sweetie. PS: These documents are helpful peices of ID to have whether you travel or not.

You are going to need to do something ...

You must have valid photo id - if you don't drive, you can get an age of majority card. You r OHIP is questionable. For some inane reason the beaurocrats at Health Canada have disallowed its use for identification purposes (despite the fact that it is photo, contains your address, and your signature)

But, it sounds like you aught to get a passport. I still don't have one, having never gone anywhere it is required (a birth certificate is fine for US, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, commonwealth countries) - but it is going to increasingly become important as a travel document. It is a much simpler document and is understood properly -- last time I went to Mexico the official actually stamped my birth certificate - invalidating it (I had to buy a new one when I returned home, which could have been a problem had I not met with understanding and not overly controlling immigrations officers on my return)

Have a great time in Vegas. I'm jealous.

Sheesh, that's funny... makes you wonder... I'm glad you didn't have any problems getting back!

While passport not necessary it can make things more efficient. Heck, if you win big in a casino you will need some type of ID.

Vegas great place, been there 8-9 times, even took my kids twice.

Cheap, but good food, free drinks, some show bargains and just 24 hours "on".

Luv and Vegas, now that's an amazing scene.

E-mail if you want some more ideas.
