1) Anyone who has read the Old Testament, the Talmud, and so on, will know that the 3 middle eastern religions are NOT peaceful at all. They're based on books full of violent thoughts which their supporters excuse by calling "allegorical" or some other mumbo-jumbo. To me all radicals are the same shit regardless of denomination.

2) Has anybody noticed that the Chinese traditions (Taoism, Confucianism, Chan) or Indian traditions (Hinduism, Buddhism) don't have the competitive, violent attitude of the middle eastern religions?

Just a thought.

(For the record, I don't believe in the Lord, I believe in freedom, including spiritual freedom.)

I said the THREE middle eastern religions.

As far Christianity being the religion of forgiveness, take a look at the site

www.evilbible.com

then grab your bible and follow along. If you can find a way to explain how "Thou shall not kill" and "Whoever does not believe in me shall be put to death" and many other similar comments (as well as the concept of eternal hell) don't create an embarassing situation then maybe we can end all war and share the oil profits!

And march the Stanley Cup to Harold Ballard's old box.

It tells you where the bad parts are, that's all. I didn't write the site. I don't feel that strongly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nor do I necessarily agree with all the stuff that's on there.

Christianity isn't a practicing forgiving religion.
Just look at the wars fought between Christians
over the millenium. The 30 years war is but one
example.

Then you have the Colonialization periods where
natives, heathens, were put to death in mass
numbers.

If the teaching of Jesus are considered to be
nonviolent - and I personally take that view -
then something must have been lost in the
translation when put into practice.
That's correct. I would say that the teachings of Jesus are one thing; the activities of the church are something completely different. Did Jesus ever say that a huge church hierarchy should be created, that it should then be split into 2 factions, each of which wears a different sort of garb but both of which have piles of bank deposits? Then the first one sacks Constantinople instead of attacking the "infidel" while the second one decides that getting conquered by the Turks would be better than joining forces with the Catholics and losing a grip on power over the faithful.

Jesus was a way of life. Other people put crooked words into his mouth. The church is plebeian politics and always has been.

everyone knows the religion if followed properly is great. but There are always scums and ignorant ppl taking over and speaking loud as if they are acting they speak for everyone. With the bible quotes, im pretty sure they took it out of context. You have understand why the verse was revealed and period it was revealed and for who.
