Last 2 questions and I'll leave the room.

Last question #1: How and where do I get an iPhone unlocked?

Last question #2: How can I tell if the iPhone 6 is 16GB, 64GB or 128 GB? There is a difference in the price of each.
#1 - Buying directly from Apple will get you an unlocked phone. If you buy from a carrier, or buy a phone that is locked to a carrier, you can bring to any of their stores and pay $20(?) and they will unlock it. If you're buying outright a new iPhone 6, Apple is selling them cheaper than the buy price at the big carriers.

#2 - You'll have to go to "Settings" and "About" to see the Capacity. Go for the 64 as a minimum. The 16Gb is fairly useless. you won't be able to store much content on it.

And it won't actually say 16, 64 or 128 in the capacity, it will be a couple or 3 gb less because of the operating system and loaded stuff. I agree though to go as big as you can afford. I did get 64 this time. My 5S was 16 and I was to the point I couldn't update the IOS because I never had the room for it. The 64 GB Iphone 6 was only $129 as it was, so I didn't mind paying that.

When I was at the Apple store yesterday, these were the prices for a no contract iPhone 6

$749 for a 16GB
$859 for a 64GB
$969 for a 128GB

1. Yes. The camera and wifi are independent of your cell phone provider, however, you will need an internet connection to set the phone up.

2. The newer iPhones use a nano SIM card. It's different from the regular SIM cards, and is slightly smaller than the micro sim cards. The chip size is the same between the cards - just the surrounding area is smaller.

What do you mean by internet connection to set up the phone? You do not need data to use it strictly as a cell phone, however.

Some carriers charge $50 and more to unlock a phone. Tom my knowledge, Apple will not unlock a cellphone under any circumstances or at any price.

Apple used to provide the customer with a free nano SIM card for the carrier f their choice. It was very easy to switch SIM cards on the Internet fro Rogers, in my experiences.

My 3gs still works and is being used as a hand me down by a family member. The thing lasts for 2 days and I got it the day it come out. I switched to android after 4s because I hate the control apple tries to impose on us

Good used iPhones can be had from a company called Orchard in Toronto. Recently had an article in the Toronto Star written on them. I've had good personal experience with them. Believe getorchard is the url. They both buy and sell iPhones.

Happy New Year guys!

So, I decided to give the iPhone 6 a try.

Question 1: Is the video camera resolution fixed at 1080p and the photo resolution fixed at 8 megapixels. or can I change the resolution?

Question 2: What happens if I take the SIM card out and insert in another cellphone?

Good choice, while pricy it is a good phone.

Dude you are being lazy. GOOGLE has ALL the answers. I will help you this time.

1. Camera - You can adjust the resolution - http://www.cnet.com/how-to/how-to-enable-60-fps-video-recording-on-iphone-6-and-6-plus/

2. If the phone (that you put the new card into) is unlocked OR on the same network (rogers, bell etc) the phone will work. If the phone is locked to another network the phone will not work. Other than that nothing will happen to the sim card (unless you damage it)

Hmm
1. Ebay seems to have them cheaper.
2. This is a "unknown" website so buy with caution, you never now what they are mailing to you.
3. While the prices are good"ish" I would buy from them.

Hope you got a protective case...I just the 5s a week ago and already cracked the screen. I didn't get any extended warranty or protective case because I figured even if I make it to 18 months or something, I'll be due for an upgrade and can use my old 4 until then. What happens? Fucking thing falls out my pocket and screen cracks. Couldn't have happened a week ago with my old 4 that had the protective case right?

Man, that sucks. My problem now is that the battery is not charging. Something wrong with the battery and/or the charger.

Question #641: How does one download videos and pics from the iPhone to the desktop? The computer recognizes the iPhone but no videos or pics are showing.

Why won't Apple do it?
Apple sells unlocked phones to the public. It sells locked phones to/through carriers. Bad form to eat their lunch.

dont think I've ever run across a resolution change setting.

Your microsim will work in any other micro sim phone. You dont even have to register the handset change. It's automatic,

Make a Genius Bar appt at an Apple Store and they'll figure it out or give you a new phone.

You need to install iTunes. Then sync your phone to your comp to get the vids.
