neat.

I'm not sure this is entirely accurate, I dont understand why or how it can tell me that my IQ is 163.

I know that IQ is just theoretical basic raw intellectual potential,

but I dont feel like I have an IQ of 163.

I think I'll try it a few more times and come up with an average of them.

neat site tho. thanks.

I scored 122 on the 12 minute timed test. To think I only needed 4 more points to become a member!

So close...

But Seriously.....

This looks like a scam to get you to join their organization. I scored 187 and I know I'm not that smart.

The tests were fun to take though!

you may be right. took it a few more times and noticed my "iq" steadily increasing....

there should be some statistical variance in this... up AND down and not really by much either.

nope, this just went up.

me thinks the theory that its a scam to make you join might indeedy be the case.

still, its fun
cheers

No kidding! They repeat questions! Of course you'll do better each time.

Don't fall for these guys. If you really think you're a genius (and you need to prove it for some reason) go sign up for MENSA. Their tests are on the level. But don't be too sad when you realise that it's rare to score over 130.

I guess I'm REALLy dumb

I took the first test but I found no way to get out of it. Couldn't find a score button, just an exit buttong that erased all the answers.

P.S. What were your results? PM me if you don't want them public... I am curious.<<

I took the first 35 question one. Just guessed at most of the spatial ones, as I don't like those--they make me cross-eyed. Got in the low 140's.
So, I decided to take the Verbal one, figuring I'd really bump those numbers up. Got in the upper 140's.
Then I tried the timed one, but something on TV caught my eye and I ran out of time and got a score of just over 100. Guess it's true that TV rots the brain!
looked at the really tough one, but the first question looked like work and I was tired of the stuff by then.

I generally like puzzles and brain teasers, but these seemed kind of dull. Usually, when I do these kind of things, a few of the tougher ones stick in my mind and I worry them and worry them until I figure them out, but, the only one of these I'm still pondering is the "fish board gaze" one. (And, no, I don't want any hints! <g>)

If you go to www.mensa.org you can take the Mensa Workout which I would rate as a superior intelligence test to anything else that could be found online. You can also take the actual Mensa test at a testing location if you are up for it.

Top 5%

Heh! Top 5% for solving brainteasers, maybe. I don't think these kind of things are very useful. They can be fun, though.

Here's an example of the kind of thing I think is fun to do. It was in an article from Time Magazine a couple of months ago about the Putnam Competition, a math competition for colleges. I read the article just before bed. Thought about it a bit, then got up and worked on it. It's one of those puzzles that has an "AHA!" moment, when all of a sudden you see the solution. Those are the kind I like...

A right circular cone has a base of radius 1 and a height of 3. A cube is inscribed in the cone so that one face of the cube is contained in the base of the cone. What is the length of an edge of the cube?

(A right circular cone looks like a dunce's cap. Picture a cube that's placed into the cone so that the upper 4 corners of the cube touch the cone and the base of the cube rests on the bottom of the cone)

You don't need any kind of advanced math to figure out. Basically, just good old a(squared) + b(squared) = c(squared).

Time even gives an answer. s=((9xthesquareroot of 2) -6))/7

My solution has a bit of a different formula, though it gives the same result. You'll get extra credit if you can figure out how Time got *its* answer.<g>

As I say, it was a lot of fun to figure out.
