The median income for a working age male is close to $45k, so by comparison $52k isn't too bad. In this economic climate, you could do alot worse.

Yes but I'm looking to settle down so I have no choice if I want to impress a lady.papasmerf said:If you count success in dollars you are doomed to failure.
If she is impressed but what you can buy. She will be always looking for more.BallzDeep said:Yes but I'm looking to settle down so I have no choice if I want to impress a lady.
Only pointing out some stats for context friend, not trying to make any value judgements here.papasmerf said:If you count success in dollars you are doomed to failure.
Typical 40 hour week on a construction site.nip said:Also I think concluding whether $25 an hour is good depends on how hard you have to work for it...if you only have to work 15 hours a week (like someone posted previously) and take home $2800 a month for 60 hours of work then I would say that is good...if you're expected to work like a friend/ex-neghbour of mine at 60 hours a week (truck driver) for $52k or bend over etc, then $25 an hour is not good!
25/hr plus what??BallzDeep said:Master electrician, not that that means anything, we just have to write another test and pay about 600$ after all the fees, plus an extra 500 if you take the pre exam, it's with a new company so my prior experience doesn't matter squat to them, I'm just the new shmuk.
Plus 10% holiday pay and a drug plan, that's all non union pays new guys, no pension or anything, this isn't long term but still twice pogey.papasmerf said:25/hr plus what??
Currently my package is close to twice that
BallzDeep said:I was going to open my own business but instead I took a job at this rate until the economy picks up, works out to about 52g's a year. I consider it very average to below average, any opinions. It's in a skilled trade, it's alot lower than my last rate but that was a well paying job in a remote area, also I'm not in TO, a much smaller city.
Bar said:. The average pay in this country about $K a year
You've got to be joking. Less than 10% of all working adults in Canada make more than $100K per year. I saw the thread where the poster asked what Terbites made per year, alot said over $100K. I find that hard to believe. My guess would be less than 20% of this board's members make that kind of coin. I have a professional designation and I don't.beenthere123 said:Tough question, as all have stated depends if you are single etc.
I always though Terb members are in the 6 digit numbers (with a few exceptions). To pay a mortgage, car loan, insurance, vacations, etc etc.... PLUS THE HOBBY. No way will it be enough.
