The median income for a working age male is close to $45k, so by comparison $52k isn't too bad. In this economic climate, you could do alot worse.
If you count success in dollars you are doomed to failure.

Yes but I'm looking to settle down so I have no choice if I want to impress a lady.

If she is impressed but what you can buy. She will be always looking for more.

Find a lady who is impressed by what you can give of yourself.

way out in left field
As a selfemployed person I've had to reduce my rate to pretty close to that just to garner some business. Things have dried up worse than the sahara this year. I'm normally running ragged at this time of year but I've been getting didly.

I don't care who you are, a single guy making $25.00 an hour is a very decent wage. I mean hell, if you have too much responsibility you could get a job as a GC, a TTC Cleaner, or any other unskilled union job for the same rate plus a shit load more benefits.

Also I think concluding whether $25 an hour is good depends on how hard you have to work for it...if you only have to work 15 hours a week (like someone posted previously) and take home $2800 a month for 60 hours of work then I would say that is good...if you're expected to work like a friend/ex-neghbour of mine at 60 hours a week (truck driver) for $52k or bend over etc, then $25 an hour is not good!
Typical 40 hour week on a construction site.

$52K is nothing to sneeze at but it depends of course on what your market value is. Do you have a degree or professional designation? How experienced are you in your field? For a guy like me who's a professional accountant with 10+ years of industry experience that salary level is an insult. But to a guy who has an BA English and 3 years experience as an ESL instructor, its probably a good salary.

Wages are 100% dependant on what you area asked to do for it. For example - Air Traffic controller, very high stress, screw up and hundreds die... 52K would suck for that kind of responsibility/stress. 52K to trim trees in a municipal park...that is GOOD MONEY....

Master electrician:rolleyes: , not that that means anything, we just have to write another test and pay about 600$ after all the fees, plus an extra 500 if you take the pre exam, it's with a new company so my prior experience doesn't matter squat to them, I'm just the new shmuk.

262 paid days (inclusive of Stat days and vacation no missed days) @ 7.5 hr/day would equate to $49,125. The take home would be in the high $30K's. It's decent but would be tight. Especially if you are a frequent hobbyist.

It's average. It's enough to pay your rent, car loans and get by, but not enough to live life large. In the United States, it's considered to be the average american salary. However, people always strive to make more, in the $100k range. You always hear commericals saying if your making $52k or less per year, you should be doing more to make more money.

Between a rock and a hard place
It's a poor wage if you work hard. It's OK if you arent ambitious and prefer to take life easy. It won't pay the mortgage. It will pay the rent.

I was going to open my own business but instead I took a job at this rate until the economy picks up, works out to about 52g's a year. I consider it very average to below average, any opinions. It's in a skilled trade, it's alot lower than my last rate but that was a well paying job in a remote area, also I'm not in TO, a much smaller city.

Goodbye hobby!

Your looking at $750 take home, only 36k per year

Also depends on benefits

Dental bills are 3k for replacement tooth

cannot afford it at that wage

but as a job until recovery in a year or two ...

. The average pay in this country about $K a year

I question that.

You cannot have a car even as a single in Toronto on 35k

Sounds like a useless statistic that includes part timers, Tim Horton's, etc but not a "real" job which is what we are discussing here

Tough question, as all have stated depends if you are single etc.

I always though Terb members are in the 6 digit numbers (with a few exceptions). To pay a mortgage, car loan, insurance, vacations, etc etc.... PLUS THE HOBBY. No way will it be enough.

You've got to be joking. Less than 10% of all working adults in Canada make more than $100K per year. I saw the thread where the poster asked what Terbites made per year, alot said over $100K. I find that hard to believe. My guess would be less than 20% of this board's members make that kind of coin. I have a professional designation and I don't.
