I find it fascinating that polls reveal the majority of people believe that ET is here, not that ET exists, but that it is here

What do terbites believe ?

Before you vote "no" watch an interview with Toronto's own Dan Aykroyd.

He moderated a TV series on the issue and is now convinced they are here and has met the real "Men in Black"

Bullshit

If the US govt is holding back evidence how come not one photograph of a UFO or one photo of an alien has leaked to the press??!!!
Thats all I ask, just one pic. Yet there's nothing.

Why??!!

I agree, the evidence is too circumstantial for me but did you watch the film?

A lot of very bright people, who have studied this more than you or I,
believe, and Aykroyd is bright.

Hard not to listen to them if you are open minded

I believe !

I am positive we are not alone.
I have no proof to offer, I just feel earth cannot be the only planet capable of sustaining life.
I believe we are being watched and probably even have been visited.

I voted 'Yes', but would have gone with "I want to Believe" because there is no 'sure thing' with out proof.

The poll is not is "ET out there" but "is ET here"

Be careful what you wish for

They would certainly be vastly more powerful then us

How we ever trust them ?

Why would they not exploit us the way we exploit monkeys in a lab

Or the way we use horses to plow a field

What is there incentive to do otherwise

I find it very unlikely aliens are here on earth. how many telescopes are recording space right now? if these UFO's were actually here to be seen with the naked eye, surely we would be seeing them arriving.

As to whether life exists on other planets I'd go with probably, intelligent life 50/50, intelligent life enough like us to make any form of interaction possible maybe but I doubt it. And even if life we could interact with does exist it is probably too far away for it to come to us or us to it.

Why would you think they want to harm you? When you walk in the woods, is the first thing on your mind how you can rape and pillage the nature around you?

Why would they not exploit us the way we exploit monkeys in a lab

We exploit monkeys to make drugs to heal ourselves, if a race can travel across the universe I doubt they would need lab rats since they probably already know everything there is to know about health, drugs, and physiology

Or the way we use horses to plow a field?

A million light years to steal horses, they probably have roomba that can plow their fields.

What is there incentive to do otherwise

The question should be; what is their incentive not to do otherwise.

"The poll is ..." You are splitting hairs in my opinion.

As for the rest there is no guarantee that they would not use us or out right wipe humans out, but I have a theory that they would be civilized and what we consider humane.

To those that voted "Yes, the evidence is convincing"

Exactly what evidence are you talking about??
The vast size of the universe and mathematical probability seem evidence enough.

The thread subject is: "Is ET Here"

I wanna see a pic or video of ET on the news.
Better yet get him/her/it to speak a few words on CNN in alien language. Then I'll believe!

Until then all we have is a bunch of grainy pics that prove nothing.
Those saucers could be high-tech advanced US military aircraft for all we know

Are we alone on this planet? in this universe? I think not. Evidence or not evidence aside, on the scale of all biological entities, I believe the 'human thing' is somewhere in the middle.

Imagine this, if a tree falls in a forest and you didn't see it, due to distance/vision limitations, did it really fall? And if an object passes by you at light speed and you didn't see it, did it really pass?

Our reality is limited by our narrowly limited senses. Hence our experiences is also narrowly limited. So, we are left with the unbounded human imagination. And if you imagine the vastness of this planet, land, water, sky; let alone the universe, you will see that the possibilities are endless!

There's a plethora of circumstantial evidence and PROFESSIONAL eye-witness accounts (by police, airforce pilots, airline pilots, etc.).

In this age of video cameras, there are plenty of images.

Because such UFO's don't go out of their way to 'pose' for photos, the pics are fleeting and of somewhat poor quality.

The account of Roswell was retracted making the substitute storyline suspicious. There were conflicting eye-witness accounts, some of whom told of threats to their lives if they didn't keep their mouths shut.

The discovery of alien life forms or contact with extra-terrestrials would be of tremendous benefit in terms of potential technology and military value, if not socio-economic impact which could be disruptive, which is why I believe governments that know about them, do not admit the truth.
Thats possible, I do keep an open mind to it all. Also the military weapon angle is plausible.

But answer me this, when Colombus discovered Americas whats the first things he did??
He introduced himself to the locals, right?? If there is life on Mars whats the first thing NASA would do?? Contact it, right??

If UFO's are here and buzzing around in the sky, how come out of all the possible civilizations in our galaxy has there not been one yet to land at CNN headquarters for an interview??? Answer me that please

Ever heard of the disclosure project? Or have you watched their press conference at the national press club few years back? Even CNN covered it.

Did you know 2 US former presidents, both Carter & Clinton, according to their own biography, were told they don't have sufficient security clearance to access what NASA and the DoD knew about UFOs?

When we watch Star Trek and hear about 'the prime directive' being to not interfere in the natural evolution of life, why can't that apply to ETs that may have visited us Earthlings?
Sorry but when you mix movies with reality you're grasping at straws

All they offered was hearsay evidence, not one image of an alien or UFO sitting in a hangar.

Anyways, FWIW I voted 'unsure'. I do keep an open mind to it and it is fascinating subject

They are no doubt very advanced compared to us to be able to easily travel distances we are incapable of at this point in our evolution. They may view us as mere ignorant primitive species, as we view monkeys in a Zoo and not worth the time or effort to make contact with. They may just observe us for science purposes then leave.

The reason they don't is because they are WAY more advanced than we are and aren't barbarians like we can be.

Much like some scientists care for wildlife or the environment, or as Buddhist monks are pacifists.
Hope you are right but you have to admit this is hopeful conjecture on your part.
They also could be Corporatist types ready to exploit anything they find for personal gain, in which case we would be farked!....
