Oh pleeeeze. Name me a head of Government who doesn't make partisan appointments.
Harper is the first PM to have judges appointed whose very fitness to sit is quesetioned.

Section 6 of the SCC Act states 6. At least three of the judges shall be appointed from among the judges of the Court of Appeal or of the Superior Court of the Province of Quebec or from among the advocates of that Province. Questionable experience aside Harper didn't even see fit to do that. Ontario AG is also an intervenor arguing that Nadon doesn't meet the criteria to sit on the bench because changes to the SCC Act require a constitutional amendment and provincial consent which the Conservatives are unwilling to pursue instead slipping in amendments in their omnibus budget bill last year.

Unlike the US where you're from we don't have a tradition of appointing judges on political considerations. The SCC is seen as apolitical and isn't afraid of going against the wishes of the government of the day but Harper would like to change all of that. What kind of a lawyer are you anyway considering you support partisan chicanery?
Come on no head of government in the Anglo-Dominion-American tradition ever appoints judges in isolation from the real world and legal philosophy.
