Is it a common thought?

I'm sure you girls have figured this out by now and don't need an MBA to tell you that there are different segments in the hobbying world and different methods of reaching those segments.

Backpage (or classified ads in general) is definitely at the low end. It is the place where providers compete on price. If you continue to advertise there, expect more of the same.

These guys probably shop in dollar stores, use basic Nokia cellphones and get their pay from the "cashback" stores. Hee, hee, hee. You ladies need to aim for the Bay Street crowd. Hee, hee, hee.

I can speak from experience that when you call, they offer certain menu options but when you arrive they are either not on the menu or want "extra roses" to provide those options. Strangely enough, it was I that misunderstood when calling and enquiring. I can also say that donation changes between the time you booked said appointment and arrive. Obviously I am choosing the wrong available options on Backpage. Has anybody else experienced this?

Ladies, you do realize that 20% of young males are unemployed, 40% work at Wal-Mart and 40% are still in school. Why would you think they have any money? If they had money, they would have a GF.

BTW: Saw an interview of a "dating expert" (female) on CNN. Her advice is that men who cannot treat a lady to a night out on the town should not be allowed to date.
Rockslinger, first of all, what is your definition of a "young male"? And where do you pull these statistics from (e.g. 40% of young males working at Wal-Mart)?

Unless you have facts to back up your claims, every time you quote a figure, you just lose more or more credibility! ("lies, damn lies, and statistics").

BTW: the advice from the "dating expert" is frankly obvious and banal, since men who can't afford to treat a lady on a night out really should focus on improving their financial situation, not on dating.

Another thing to consider is that a guy who wants BBFS has no real options other than to call indys. He's obviously not going to call an agency and ask for that. And he knows that most reputable indys won't do it either. So, he goes hunting for girls who he figures can only compete against the sea of other classified ads by offering stuff like this.

In the same way, massage parlor mileage hunters don't go to the reputable spas. They go to the hole in the wall spas with low foot traffic where he knows the girls have to offer extras often for less money to remain somewhat competitive.

Young male is 30 or younger. I hope you realize these "stats" are spoken "tonque in cheek" and not based on a scientific survey. A lot of young males are in school, work in lower paying jobs or unemployed. Not all of the 40% work at Wal-Mart, some work at Burger King. Hee, hee, hee.

Hey, nothing wrong with a prepaid Noikia hobby phone. You can make calls, send texts, have voicemail. What more do you need from a hobby phone?

There are psychologists who deal with marketing perceptions who could answer this (don't know their actual title) . my guess is it's not so much the location that make people think it's cheap, but I bet the size and quality of the adds has a factor.

Actually location of is probably a factor as well, but not so much the location in the paper itself, but which paper, so an Ad in of of the free newspapers might be assumed to be a cheaper service than in an add in a pay newspaper.

Fair enough. And I agree that many young males are in school (university or community college), work in lower paying jobs (often while in school) or unemployed. Although those who graduated from school are more likely to land a decent-paying job than those who haven't.

As for the 40% you mentioned, some may also work for McDonald's or in Sears too! :eyebrows:

Actually, I heard on the news recently that an undergraduate degree is not as highly valued in the workplace as it use to be. But, still better to have than not to have. More young folks should learn a trade. The tradespeople always seem to be busy and they don't compete with the Asians like the manufacturers.
