There is much more to the hate for Ford than the privatization of garbage collection. Ford also made TTC an essential service, privatized cleaning services at the TTC and threatened to privatize other services. Didn't the cleaners go on strike and shut down the TTC as other workers did not want to cross the picket line. Those days ended.

I agree with you and I don't.

I agree that government should be smaller and relying on outside contractors for more and more services.

Privatizing garbage collection was one such example and I'm wondering why Tory hasn't set in motion the tender to privatize the east end of Toronto. I live in the west end and GFL now picks up our garbage and the service has never been better. No more BS City of Toronto workers who routinely find reasons NOT to do their job and just walk right past the trash bins. Fuckers.

The City of Toronto should not be in the garbage collection business, nor the office cleaning business, nor the Building Department business, nor the pot hole fixing business, nor the government housing business (for that matter). The City's Fair Wage Office and the city being bound to the various construction unions should also go right out the window (for a start) as well.

But Rob Ford was just an idiot, plain and simple.

I think (or hope) that you can get fiscally responsible without the crack head simpleton drama shit. Ford was (and is) a mad-man.

Ford was the most disastrous mayor in the history of the city (even worse than that glad-handing screw up Mel Lastman)... an uncouth, ill-educated, drug addicted, drunken bully who achieved nothing to move this city forward, and much to pull it backward. A dog with a leash could have done a better job than Ford (and his appalling bully-boy brother). That our present mayor is dull, uninspiring, and boring is, after Ford, a welcome change. And Tory IS getting things DONE.
