Is pc's taking over TV's

I was listening to the radio and they said that most people after they get home from work it takes them roughly only 15 minutes to turn the TV on and that the majority of people will spend 4 hours in front of the TV and that some people even up to 12 hours in front of the TV. What I am interested to know is if this is true for people sitting in front of thier computers and what is more popular the TV or the computer.

Not a big fan of TV any more. I find most of the sitcoms insult my intelligence, and even with 200+ channels, there isn't a great deal to watch. I do however still watch a lot of movies. (does that count?). My PC on the otherhand, now this is a great time waster.

Yes i have gotten in to the PC mode after work and hardly ever watch TV ,the only down fall is my ass is geting as big as the monitor iam using. lol

Once again, Cute In A Kilt proves that she and I are a match made in heaven. I do own a (nice) television but I don't watch it much. I spend the vast majority of my day in front of the computer both at work and at home. My monitor @ home is actually bigger than my TV! I generally find that there's nothing intellectually stimulating on TV. I don't mean stimulating in an academic sense, but there's nothing on that really draws me in enough to spend x hours doing nothing but watch.

... it's just too easy to sit my fat ass on the couch ...

In the 80's, the decade was TV' worship crazy - with ratings-rocketing sitcom shows on every channel - thousands of viewers would tune in watch the A-Team, MacGyver, Three's Company, Magnum PI, Miami Vice, etc etc (feel free to add on to this list, if you remember any) ...and these shows had the most intricate, most entertaining, intelligent and extremely well-thought out plots...The plots and dialogue were NEVER as repetitive and as predictable as the shows they throw on the tube, nowadays.....

and what in the heck is with these producers and directors of television shows - all they can manage to come up with is too many reality shows - that entertains me as much as watching grass grow or paint dry..the state of television now - has obviously gone to dump...

and don't even ask me about the hollywood movies they're rolling out nowadays on the factory line...

Well, I would say yes for me insofar as that I have my tv on in the background when I'm surfing the net or playing video games online. Living alone I still use the TV for background noise and watch a ton of movies.

I still watch a few shows regularly but not as many now.

Airline (after travelling extensively I can attest that yes, SOME passengers ARE that stupid!)
American Hot Rod/Overhaulin'
Rides
Enterprise
Lost (so, if one becomes stranded after an airliner crash are ALL the woman going to be so hot as this series indicates?)

If I look beyond the sickening surface of reality TV and the cliches of much of the rest, it makes for good mind candy as an interlude to the PC.

Aside from The Dog, 24, Holmes on Homes, Next Top Model season 2, the occasional Ed The Sock and recently having added Degrassi (j & bob) to the line up, I only watch DVDs. Again, for the most part, mind candy, and I mainly tend to choose movies based on the chick that's in them. It's one way to find some interesting movies that you may not have watched based on premise alone.

For instance, last year JW recommenced Laurel Canyon with Kate Beckinsale. Great movie & no, she didn't need implants. I'd only seen her in Underworld previously. Subsequently, I watched almost all her other movies.

Technology is a love hate thing for me, but I still love technology.

TV is the only true friend all of us have.

Never judge TV, because TV will never judge you (unless you are on Judge Judy).

Quality entertainment. I'm watching a documentary of Malcolm X on PBS. Still some good things on the ole cathode ray tube.

maybe if I hadn't been so memorised by the blue light I wouldn't have missed 'the passionate eye'.

sometimes the simplest of things are the most "stimulating"
