Now we all know that Barrie sps must be liscensed to be legal in Barrie with a photo Id card and be registered to be an escort and advertise in Barrie



My hoemate friends want to post pics on the internet but want to know the

legalities if they are not liscensed in barrie independant or with an agency .

Do they need to

be an independant to not put the company or themselves in jeopardy ?I

thought it was legal to advertise yourself as a escort!?will someone confirm this please !


Does the liscensed company put a claim in for what each

liscensed escort has made in income yearly correctly ...Cause this is what another

hoemate told me !!!!!!They had her down for making double that she

of taxes !They screwed her up royaly !for there own company tax

Alexis I have no answers to your questions, but I'm going to definetly watch this tread to see what the answers are.

This idea of registering as an escort is something I've never heard of before. I know they make the Toronto MPA's get a license and I admit I know very little about the process or the legalities.

The one thing that strikes me as odd is the agency listing the womans income higher than it actually is. Making the assumption that they collect a commission of some sort, why would they over report something they have to pay tax on themselves? Doubling her income would mean twice the commission tax they have to pay would it not?

Good luck with all of this..I'm curious to see the responses from those in the know.

Providing sexual services is not covered in this by-law and thus the ramifications of doing so are covered under the criminal code, not the Barrie by-law.

Alexis...keep in mind that few of us do our own taxes. We hire people who know more than we do on that subject. Just the way we hire a mechanic to fix our cars. What we do not know..we find as good a person as we can to do it for us.

In your profession the one thing I might add is this. You can get your taxes done by an accountant. And you can get your taxes done by a tax lawyer. In your profession only the tax lawyer can say "client confidentiality" the accountant cannot say that. Sometimes better to pay more for better coverage down the road.

It of course is your decision based on your income.

got popped with unliscensed girls with huge fines that make your head spin the girls were stuck with paying the

humongeous fine even though the boss knew they were unliscensed ,then they were fired when they wanted

the company to help pay ,oh and the driver was fined the same . from Le at a hotel in town .The unliscensed

agency never had any problems ironic eh .

How could the girls be left holding the fine patyment if the establishment was the one fined? I am presuming it's the duty of the agency to ensure those working there are licensed. Passing the fina along sounds like a strongarm tatic. And also one that is fraudulent.

Mark Ive known lots of Barrie girls to get popped in Barrie by LE in the last 4

years and when things are quiet you know its just a matter of time before they score again .

Those that say Le doesnt bother in Barrie are just big Liars so youll work for them !

I am in the midst of getting licensed.

I had to have a letter from a licensed agency and a criminal background check done to even apply for the license.

No financial info is taken by the city. That would be a rev-can issue.

It doesn't matter where an agency is located if they advertise or operate in Barrie they must be licensed according to the woman at the desk that I talked to. Once i have my license in hand I can work for any and every other licensed agency at no additional cost as long as I provide a letter from them to the city saying I also work for them.

I have also heard that the city seems to ignore the unlicensed places.

I'm starting to think I made a mistake by applying for a license.

There is a lot of pressure to do so when you work for a licensed place (and more $). I thought I wanted to go into this all above board and legal. I picked a licensed agency for that reason.

I asked about getting the bylaws when I applied and was told I could BUY a copy from city hall.

I may call and stop the process having now read the no-touching garbage. Even if I was merely to accompany someone on a date I would likely dance with them and hold hands and have some physical contact. That isn't even allowed. What a joke.

All I have accomplished by applying is that i have put my info into the city's hands. There is no way anyone can be an escort that doesn't touch. The city is clearly just out to cash in on this farce of a bylaw.

Funny thing is that they don't care if you have a criminal record. Many of the licensed escorts do have records and the city doesn't care. The background check was just another thing someone could make a buck on - the police in this case.

I intend to file my income relating to escorting. it will only be part-time for me anyway.

From what I have heard at all the places I called around to when I was seeking an employer -there has not been a ticket issued for being unlicensed for years. I will ask when I go in to pick up my license next week.

I've now decided the info is out I may as well go through with the licnsing now.

The bylaw lady told me she can't remember the last time a ticket was issued. I am going to make them tell me when i go back to get the license.

At my agency we do get paid $10 more an hour if we are licensed. In the long run it is worth it just for that.

Vera, we get a try-out time. It may be up to a month where we can see if we like it or how well we do. If it isn't working for us we can move on. if we like it and want to stay we must get a license. Until we get a license we get $80 per hour in Barrie and $90 after we're licensed. And it isn't fair to force someone to pay $150 to get a license before they can even try it out.
