...mind you, if I was to make a claim about gamergate, a group and term that didn't even exist until some uppity feminists starting talking about video games and then started getting death/rape threats (a mere coincidence of timing, Shirley! No, really. It's just a coincidence. Shaddup!), I would point out that looking at a single study of harassment on a single platform, (Twitter), doesn't really prove shit. Nor does the fact that they couldn't find a direct link between 88% of harassers and gamergate mean that a link isn't there for many of those cases. It just means that the researchers were exceptionally cautious in their methodology. (that's a good thing. Drawing absurd, sweeping generalizations from those cautious results: not so much)
Or perhaps I would just take everything you posted as a given at face value and say...
HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK!!! 12% of all the harassment of women is directly linked to gamergate. JESUS MOTHERFUCKING CHRIST!! That's nuts!!! 12 percent!!!! 12% of ALL the harassment of women on Twitter is directly linked to gamergate. It's worse than I thought!!! Seriously though, dude. I'm still waiting on your explanation of why the finding that 12 percent of ALL the harassment of women on Twitter can be directly connected to gamergate somehow means that gamergate 'tain't no big thing. I mean, that there's some superhuman level of tone deafness. Do you work at it, or does it come naturally?
