He is one of the top 12 forwards in the Leafs organization. Just a scapegoat because some idiot paid him too much,
Scapegoat ? ... Maybe, but Blake is definitely earning too much in this cap system. If it were not for this contract would he even be in the NHL ?

You are right ... The more the Leaf win the more how much everyone makes will get ignored ... This organization is
full of bad contracts ... We are at " the Cap " and really have only 2 top six forwards and zero number 1 defenseman
and zero number 1 goalies ... How an organization can spend over 50 million dollars and have assembled so little talent to show for all that spending ... You could say with their poor record, a 2 million dollar coach and 3 million dollar GM that everyone isn't earning their keep right now ..

I agree on the organization not having much to show and being close to the cap, but give the current regime a bit more time.
Not having a #1 D or goalie ? Kaberla is a number one defenceman on a lot of teams, top contenders included.
Gustvsson in goal ... the jury is still out.

Blake would be playing for most teams, regardless of his salary.
Have you hit your head recently ?

Aren't "middle of the pack" scorers a dime a dozen? Aren't they also suppose to do other stuff like be good defensively, hit people, fight, kill penalties, etc.?

Of course Blake goes and scores two last night.
I hope it is the start of a hot streak for him.

4 goals and 13 assists after 28 games. He is on a pace to score 12 goals and 38 assists for the season but he might do better, or do worse. The good news is that he's played all 28 games so far.

I, completely agree with A.F's take on Blake. I don't know about every team... depends on chemistry and role... but the point is pretty clear that Blake, like it not, does possess skills that most 3rd liners, at the very least, do not have.

Because Leafs fans (which I am, unfortunately, one) are among the most knowledgeable (often, at their own expense) and the most impatient, their expectations and emotions usually get the better of them without real thought.

So... people tend to crucify Blake for ACCEPTING big $$$ and term for a role on a team that only Kessel can truly assume. On a team with a real 1st line and solid to good support (meaning, real 2nd line talent too)... Blake would actually earn... at least half his salary. You saw what he was able to do with Moore, last year.

Hey... it could be worse. The Leafs could have signed Danny Briere to his 8 yr/52 million dollar deal. Only 5 more years left on that baby of a deal. I think Philly fans would rather take our deal, I'm sure...

I was watching the Leaf game to-night (congrats to Leafs) and I swear Jason Blake is shrinking. He looks like a little kid out there. I think he is definitely too small to be in the NHL.
