Yes I didn't like having Jansen at 8 tbh. He's arguably been one of our better hitters the past month or so.
I’m fine with Jansen at 7 or 8 — he is a good clutch hitter but has a terrible OBP. That type of hitter is better at the bottom of the order.

This acquisition of DeJong tells me the injury to Bichette may be more serious than first thought.
It was very un Bichette like not to try to hobble back to first last night when he pulled up lame.

He must have been in a lot of pain to just stop dead like that and bend over.

I'm thinking this could be serious.....He might miss the rest of the season. Hope not though he's such an all around great player. He's worked hard on his defense this year and it shows.

Jays are getting SS Paul De Young:

''In 2015, DeJong graduated from ISU with a degree in biochemistry with a pre-medical emphasis. He had a 3.74 GPA and a plan to attend medical school in case a career in professional baseball would not have worked out.''

Baseball aside he's a very smart guy...Looks like he's struggled there for a few years after a promising start to his career.

Looks like they don't like what they have in Espinal either.

We need to do something to shake up our pitiful offense. Putting Belt in the 3 slot is just stupid. I get that he has a good OBP but he strikes out way too much. 102 strikeouts in 284 plate appearances is terrible for anyone hitting in the top 5 of the order. This is the batting order I would put out on field vs. RHP
1. Merrifield
2. Bichette
3. Springer
4. Vladdy
5. Keirmeier
6. Chapman
7. Belt
8. Jansen
9. Varsho
Actually, by most metrics, the Jays offense is pretty good.

Ranking in all of MLB (lots of top 10's):
batting average-5th
at bats/game-2nd
hits/gm-5th
slugging%-9th
OBP-8th
OPS-9th
runs/gm-15th
HR/gm-14th

The 2 stats that are killing them:
Hit into double play-27th in MLB
Runners left in scoring position-28th in MLB

They get lots of hits and lots of men on base, but they squander their opportunities. Their timely hitting is real bad. How do you correct that when the stats show that the guys in the order can definitely hit way above the league average. But for some reason the don't do it with men on base/in scoring position. And in general it's different guys on different nights that strand the baserunners.

They have the same skill set when they come to the plate with men on base, but they don't display it when it's most needed. It's a mental thing. How does that get corrected?

As for Belt, yes he has a good OBP which is his job, so maybe it is the guy(s) behind him who are the problem. It's not his fault that they can't advance him.

TBH, it's a weird situation.

Fuck'n Mountcastle! Jays have to walk him every at bat for the next 3 games!

They have to make a dead for Teo ,in case Bo is out indefinitely.
With the trade for DeJong today I wouldn't expect them to trade for Teoscar.

No structural damage for BoBo. Listed as day to day.
That's excellent news, he should hang out with Nurse Shelby for a few days.

Toronto Passions/ramblin put an end to this childish backbiting banter. Tp, to quote John Larroquette, your squish may come true.

……we are and we are cleaning up this thread. So far, I have deleted my contribution. All about Jordan Romano hahaha it’s actually pretty funny. I mean when you really think about it.

And I've committed to cleaning up mine too. I'm on my phone and out with friends tonight, so have gone through and deleted posts and will be cleaning up any I've missed tomorrow.

I would like to thank Philip for suggesting the solution. That was a stand up move.

Hopefully we can let bygones be bygones and just comment on The Jays. Whether that be instinct, gut-feeling, stats, or a combination of all.

Well, now I’m in a bad mood ….they didn’t end up trading for Hernandez before the deadline, so it’s fuck you all over again….lol

I'm with you. Was it here I posted trading Pearson for Teo? May have been a text to a friend. But I may have mentioned it here too.

After Pearson tonight I wish they had done it.

Tampa is putting a licking on My Yankees here......Yankees grab two bad relievers at the deadline. This team is mired in futility.

As for the Jays....Hard to trust Pearson these days...

Yankees get the tying run at the plate in the ninth and Stanton strikes out. That's their season in a nutshell.

I never saw the Orioles coming this year. Some real home grown talent. Great drafting.

On the Oriole telecast the other day the announcers said that moving the left field wall back has helped them

They've built their team around it. Interesting take that I hadn't considered.

The Orioles chased The Jays a little last year before dropping off. This year the Orioles have improved and The Jays have just moved sideways, if not down.

Orioles are the real deal. Haven't seen what the Orioles did today with trading, as they could use some starting pitching. Or just play the Jays for the rest of the season.

Jays 1-7 against Baltimore. And as we all know, horrible against anyone in AL East. Maybe we can lobby to get moved to AL Central. Lol.

I went to a Dodgers game and watched them beat Oakland. Dodger fans are awesome. They cheer for a bloop single, the way hockey fans would cheer for a goal. They also boo loud when the opposition hits a home run.

Intense fans and what feels like great clutch hitting.
