Jesse Colin Young of the Youngbloods, Known for Immortalizing the Song 'Get Together,' Dies at 83

I saw him as the opening act of a historical Toronto concert on a Labour Day around 1976 at Varsity Stadium. He opened for the Band and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. His latest hit was a song called Lightshine, As soon as he started that song, the skies ironically opened up and it rained cats and dogs for the next 4 or 5 hours straight. I suspect that others here were also in attendance.

Saw the Youngbloods live in the U of Hartford gym in 1969. Fantastic. Mixed in a lot of jazzy riffs during their set. Have that first album, too. Perhaps their second as well. The co-headliner of that concert will take some 60s-heads back some: the West Coast band Spirit.

I remember that song, it was almost like the Hippy national anthem. Found this one too, not bad.

RIP.

Song of 1969. Or one of them. Takes me back to a construction site in Calgary where I was doing framing carpentry towards the end of the summer. Was usually on the radio several times a day. Soundtrack to the construction site. The smell of the wood. The summer heat finally mellowing out into fall warmth. Being young and having hope. Enjoying being young and having hope. Very mellow memories of that song.

And the married woman in her late 30's that spent time with you when her husband was out of town.

It just sounds like it could be part of that time of your youth that you were reminiscing about. It just seemed to naturally fit right in like:
