Perhaps it isn't a fair comparison but lovey's point about the 4 year degree is correct.

On the other hand, I do realize that my 4 year engineering degree required one less year of schooling than most teachers need.

Teachers are every bit as professional as lawyers and require more education than engineers.

Only universities grant teaching professional accreditation.

The challenge you face Lovehobby is that many of us went to university, and we remember the students who went on to become teachers.

Decent students with decent grades, but hardly the cream of the intellectual crop.

From a pure economics point of view, subsidizing development of green industries will have a long term benefit for Ontario and Canada. As more people support green products, we'll be in a great position to lead the field.

Of course that assumes that the Federal government doesn't undermine that progress.
Hasn't worked in Europe. They started "green" years before us and they still have hydro and natural gas prices that are unbelievable, much higher than what we are paying so it doesn't seem to be working over there what makes you think our yoyo politicians can make it work here?

You can lead a horse to water,...

Except math seems to be left out of teacher's "education", and proves that "more" education doesn't mean shit.

That is a joke...it says that "mid career' is 5-10 years. In my profession, 10 years is just getting started. Now calculate the wage on an hourly basis, and include the benefits and ridiculous pension...

The most conservative governments in Canada are in Alberta. they pay more than Ontario. Many American cities pay more.

Avg pay Canadian HS teacher $50 000 CND

http://www.payscale.com/research/CA/Job=High_School_Teacher/Salary

Avg Pay for New Jersey HS teacher $63 000 USD

http://teaching.monster.com/careers/articles/9484-5-highest-paying-states-for-teachers

Ontario teachers seriously underpaid.

That enough numbers for you?

No I believe a teacher deserves about $120 000 per year.

The pension was established in the 1920s invested well. The pension uses same formula as cops fire fighters manh others should have become a teacher. Hearing a big kf teacher envy .

There are two statements that invalids the information on the site:

1)The average pay for a High School Teacher is C$50,890 per year. Most people with this job move on to other positions after 20 years in this career. That is BS..unless it mean to collect the pension...

2) Country: Canada | Currency: CAD | Updated: 17 Jan 2014 | Individuals Reporting: 1,244 so not scientific ... a poll....

Guess you have to work hard with pathetic excuses when your argument falls apart. There are many cities and states in the USA where teachers make far more than Ontario. This is well known in education circles.
