I had posted last week the same thing ,please if you cannot make it, call it's a simple thing to do,please pick up the phone and dial, I had three no shows this evening and I'm a little upset about this. This is time consuming and frustrating because I have other clients who would like to come see me,and I say NO because I have booked men who show very little respect by not cancelling ..This is not right so please you know who you are do not waste my time further more.Sorry to those who had to read this post tried to book tonight...

I second that... It's a matter of common courtesy; please attend to this simple yet important gesture.

I've been having a similar problem, advance bookings and no show/phone. I changed some of the places I advertised and it is a bit better, though it still happens too often. Is this becoming a problem for others as well?

Minx,

I do symphathize, it is difficult when you work in a profession where time is money. Some clients don't understand, or care, that cancellations cost you money. In my previous profession, there were days when the receptionist would steer clients away from me because I was booked, but then no one showed. So basically on days like that I worked for nothing.

I think some people get too embarrassed when something comes up, so they figure it's easier to just not call. Personally, I never had a problem with anyone who showed me the courtesy of calling. I had to make my first cancellation ever with a SP recently, due to an injury, and the agency seemed appreciative that I had called instead of just leaving them hanging.

By the way, cancellations always seemed to go in streaks at my old job. Hopefully, you are at the end of a bad streak, and I do believe the majority of people are considerate. Good luck!

Lets hope my streak is over...lol....The worst is when someone calls you and says I will be there in 5 minutes can you tell the exact intersections again, like come on whats that?? Im just shaking my head, several of them claim to have seen me on Terb so they know who they are so maybe this will be an eye opener for these disrespectful individuals......Ps Can we say cut-off??

While I cannot speak to your manner Minx, over the years I have found many SPs do not have good phone skills when it comes to arranging the meet. Many are short and dispassionate, almost as if irrittated by having to take the call. Now I realize that an SP may be flooded with calls and many are the same old questions and/or hang ups etc., but it doesn't change the fact that once it looks like an arrangement can be made all that should be put in the past. The net result is that quite often, and I speak from personal and aquaintances experiences, that after putting down the phone the client is possibly concerned about what he is getting in to.

Aside from the jerks who do not value the SPs time, there are those who are simply a little frightened and some who haven't gotten a warm feeling from making the arrangement. Add to that a cold or disinterested voice on the other end of the line and it probably is easier to think of backing out.

Now none of that excuses not picking up the phone and indicating that you have changed your mind or simply cannot make it, but it does add to the probabiilty that the client may cancel without notification.

I am amazed at how little effort many SPs go to with regards to maintaining contact. I've never 'not shown up', (I have had to cancel but have always notified), but there have been many times I have had the SP decline an appointment because someone has already booked even though they haven't shown up yet. If I figure I could be remotely late I'll give an update that I'm still coming, yet I've come across many instances of the SP saying "I have a 4:00 but he's not here yet," but then they'll say "no, don't call at 4:15 in case he's here."

Huh?

Anyhow I sympathize with your concern but I think that many SPs could do a better job as well.

A little common courtesy goes a long, long way. Guys, if you're gonna be late... CALL her. If you can't make it... CALL her. No one likes their time wasted.

Well, I can understand your frustration Minx but I'm not really all that sympathetic. Women have been doing this to men (particularly me) for years so it is nice to see the tables turned :)
