He has an ego that doesn't match his level of play. He had the same issues in junior. He has had his chances and hasn't been good enough to stick. He is overrated and this will be his last shot with the Leafs.

You won't get better than a second or third round pick or a third line player in a trade for him.

Could the Leafs have done better than Kadri with their 7th overall pick? John Taveres was already drafted by that time.

All licenced NHL appearal sales are shared equally among the teams. The Leafs don't need to market themselves to any particular group. They made 81 million last year.

Kadri was rated a high first rounder. He may have benefited by playing with some talanted London Knight teammates. The Senators were going to take him with the 9th pick so he was on the radar for a few teams.
Really? I didnt know that

I blame Burke or at least his ego. True, not a lot of success below Kadri either but

•10th overall – Magnus Paajarvi – Played a strong rookie campaign with the Oilers last season, although he was overshadowed by guys like Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle. Is clearly on the right track.

If you have ever seen Kadri play in person, you will see that his hands are unreal. He has more puck control then alot of guys. He goes up, and comes down, up and down. Never gets to settle in, or play as much in the top 6 as he should. I'm a huge Leaf fan, but Wilson made this team a bunch of robots. They stick to the plays, and when the plays don't work, they are screwed. They don't have any creativity out there, but Kadri is out there being creative, but nobody else is. He has great talent, and potential, but the Leaf system is too robotic. I hate when teams just try to play by the play book, and forget how to just go out and play. You need plays, but they never work as planned, and you have to be able to wing it. The Leafs can't, they need some creativity.

I beg to differ

Whether or not you like or even agree with Brian Burke, and even if you do not think he is a good hockey guy he is bullheaded and I seriously doubt he could be 'ordered' to take a player just to try to get more sweater sales from a certain ethnic community.

Also here is the number one reason statements like these are stupid.

Winning the Cup would generate sale of all Leaf merchandise to all markets in every ethnic community.
Leafs sweaters, t-shirts, caps, etc would go through the roof. TV rating would skyrocket and they could raise ticket prices and no one would complain.
We would just fork over the money.:thumb:
MLSE hasn't won a cup for close to 50 years, so your point is a non-starter. I am sure that the leafs organization is pretty devoid of the top line scouts, minor league coaches & trainers that make for a quality franchise, so there's no one home to create a winner.

Leafs fans already pay the most for everything w/o a winning team, here they were just trying to expand their customer base.
